Mabel Posted August 11, 2018 Posted August 11, 2018 Hello Everyone, I have recently begun to work with my cards again after a 2 year hiatus. I am much more serious about studying this go around. I went to Aecletic only to find it shuttered, but this seems like a good place too! I am thankful for the site administrators for creating and running Tarot, Tea, and Me. I am sure I will learn a lot on here and meet some like-minded people as well. Best Wishes, Mabel
Thoughtful Posted August 11, 2018 Posted August 11, 2018 Welcome Mabel, glad you found us after finding AT gone, gone, gone. l am also grateful for finding TTM, hope you have as much fun and learning with your tarot again :)
HOLMES Posted August 11, 2018 Posted August 11, 2018 welcome mablel. could you share a bit more like are you looking to do reading exchanges,, perhaps just studyi9ng tarot for yourself (aka just doing tarot reading for yourelf as a daily draw ) what decks you got ?
Mabel Posted August 11, 2018 Author Posted August 11, 2018 Thank you all for the warm welcome! I am studying the Rider-Waite cards. I have the Gilded Tarot by Barbara Moore that I am using since I have now put my Rider-Waites in order to help me learn key words. I am using Joan Bunning's Learning the Tarot book and the guide book that came with the Gilded Tarot cards too. I also love the website Little Red Tarot and want to take the class there someday. I have ordered the 78 Degrees book by Rachel Pollack too, as I have heard good things about that. I did recently order the Sasuraibito Tarot too. I was thinking I should build up my knowledge on Rider Waite and then expand out to less traditional cards. I can feel my brain going "aha!" using the Gilded Tarot since it is similar I think to Rider Waite. Reading exchanges would be fun I think! I am not sure how to go about setting that up, but I imagine I can figure it out eventually. I have been just reading for myself. I do either a one card draw or a Ponder This (top), the left to right, Past Influences, What's Going On?, and What do do? I also do the Past, Present, Future spread, left to right. Sometimes, I just ask the cards, "What do I need to know?" I have studied the Celtic Cross, but think that is too much yet for me. I also like the Bridge spread on Little Red Tarot.
Ratty Posted August 11, 2018 Posted August 11, 2018 Hi, Mabel. I'm a relative newbie too. Welcome to the forum. Tea is optional. Tarot is optional. But Me.... No, that's not what I was going to say. People here are really friendly and the AT refugees abound, so if you are looking for an Aeclectic successor, I think you found it. Like you, I'm still swatting up on my Rider Waite, but I intend to expand out into even more traditional cards, like Tarot de Marsailles. There are areas in the forum for reading exchanges. There's even a mentoring programme for beginners. This place is freakin' awesome! I love Celtic Cross as a general-purpose spread. My first reading was past, present and future, but I moved to Celtic Cross within two weeks. (I'd be happy to take you through it, if you want. Just PM me.) This forum has taught me how to create my own spreads; although I'm still learning how to pick exactly the right spread for the question. It's worth knowing that you need to hit a 5 post total before you'll be allowed to post into the Reading Exchanges area. So play around a bit in the forum and get to know what's going on. It'll be worth it.
Mabel Posted August 11, 2018 Author Posted August 11, 2018 Thank you for the information, Ratty. I have looked into Marseilles and Thoth a bit, but not much beyond the Wikipedia pages. I feel like the more info and experiences the better) when it comes to tarot. It is so interesting to learn one perspective and then see it in a new light as well. Do you happen to know if the 5 post rule requires 5 posts in different forums or 5 posts in any forum? Sent from my SM-S727VL using Tapatalk
Ratty Posted August 12, 2018 Posted August 12, 2018 Five posts anywhere you're allowed to post, in the same or different threads; it doesn't matter. If you check under your name next to your messages it says Page of Forums. After you post your first five, that will change to TT&M Family, telling you that you now have freer rein.

vanilla Posted August 12, 2018 Posted August 12, 2018 Hi Mabel! Does anyone know what happened to the Aeclectic Forum?
Mabel Posted August 13, 2018 Author Posted August 13, 2018 Hi Vanilla, I am not sure, but I think it must have been awfully hard to run such a big site, etc I think the site owner wrote about why on the site. You can still see the forums and I found my old posts. Sent from my SM-S727VL using Tapatalk
Mabel Posted August 13, 2018 Author Posted August 13, 2018 Yes, she does a great job... She does! Sent from my SM-S727VL using Tapatalk
