EmpyreanKnight Posted August 14, 2018 Posted August 14, 2018 Just a quick message. Pox, the booklet for your Russian red box deck is also in Russian, right? Can you transcribe the text for the Magic Circle card and post it here? I'm excited because I found the companion book of the Russian kit written by Sklyarova herself. It is this one: Upon translating the meanings in the book, it's very different from the one in the Classic/English silver box. I'll post the text in the thread later. Right now I'd just like to compare the Russian text from my book and your booklet and see if they're similar. Thanks!

Can you transcribe the text for the Magic Circle card and post it here? It's in Cryllic and I don't have a way to type in that language, or run it off onto the computer. A photo will be the best I can do. Here is the youtube video of the Russian speaker giving the meaning for each card in his Russian deck. He called Abracadabra "Gibberish", or at least that's the way youtube translated it from the video:
EmpyreanKnight Posted August 14, 2018 Author Posted August 14, 2018 Can you confirm if this is the text for the Magic Circle card: Аркан 78 «Магический круг» Соответствие в классическом Таро — Туз Пентаклей Этот Аркан свидетельствует, что клиент нуждается в защите, так как его положение очень опасно. От чего и как следует защищаться — покажет расклад.

There are so many videos around YouTube discussing the deck, and I was pretty sad since most of them are in Russian. Because of your comment, I found out that not only can you have a YouTube vid display a caption - if it's in another language like Russian it can be automatically translated to another language. So like, you can watch a Russian vid with English subtitles, altho the translation leaves quite a bit to be desired. Since it's in real-time, I shan't be complaining. It's good enough as it is.

It's exactly the same with the exception that this part is missing from first part of the second line the book: Этот Аркан свидетельствует, что Yes, you just have to click the little gear icon or whatever it is at the bottom and it will translate the video captions. It doesn't stay translated if you download the video.
EmpyreanKnight Posted August 14, 2018 Author Posted August 14, 2018 Thanks for the confirmation, pox! It seems like the booklet featured excerpts from the Sklyarova black book I talked about in the first post, entitled Таро Теней. I'll post the excerpts from the book in all the card threads I'll create. In fact, I already included the text for the Magic Circle card in its thread, along with a valiant polishing of its Google translation from yours truly. I'll post some more of what I unearthed from other sources before I post my own thoughts on the card.
EmpyreanKnight Posted August 31, 2018 Author Posted August 31, 2018 I just found out that there is a very detailed companion book on the Tarot Of Shadows that was included in a high-quality white box Russian kit. It's entitled таро теней комментарии or Tarot Of Shadows Commentary and it was written by Vera Sklyarova herself. It's actually the main source of the hardcover book in English that is included in the kit released by the Ukrainian publisher, Deluxe. The latter is the one I'm using right now. Anyway, here are pics of what the kit and its companion book looks like: I'm definitely going to get myself a copy in the future. I don't understand Russian, but maybe I can set something up.
Marisa Kirisame Posted October 9, 2018 Posted October 9, 2018 I've noticed Sklyarova's name on one of Tarot ebooks I've had since I was a beginner, and sure, she did advertise her Shadow Tarot deck there, though only in a single, barely noticeable section, where she suggests using it as a support deck by drawing 2 cards from Shadow Tarot's Minor Arcana as clarification cards for any main deck Major Arcana that is not a positive symbol in itself. The book is quite good in my opinion, as it's descriptiveness is good for enrichening your symbol library.
