DanielJUK Posted August 19, 2018 Posted August 19, 2018 Nice article in the Sunday Observer today about Tarot's recent come back! it's here - https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2018/aug/19/new-generation-follows-pack-tarot-makes-comeback There have been several articles this year about how popular the esoteric arts are with the younger generation, sales of tarot and also astrology products are at some of their highest! I definitely think the whole area is having a resurgence! I am not sure tarot ever went away but it does seem popular right now :) There are some nice interviews with people who use tarot and also deck creators in the article, it was pretty well done in my opinion. RWS is selling 3 times as much in 2018 as the sales of 5 years ago according to Rider Books quoted in the article :) <3
Thoughtful Posted August 19, 2018 Posted August 19, 2018 That was a good read Dan. Usually the press avoid anything to do with the occult unless of course its lurid and sensational :)) l agree with Daisy Waugh and Judith Kendra that people are feeling lonely and turning to tarot readers for comfort. l too have had people breakdown in tears when reading the tarot for them. It can be a blessed relief and healing for them. There is so much unrest in the world l think we are all clinging to lifelines of some sort. You and l know that the tarot can help people in all ways, giving comfort, advice, and friendship for the time the readings last. So how lovely that a newspaper sees this all in positive way as well. It was also a good advert for the RWS. Not my cup of tea l dislike them. Soon the forums will be awash with newbies ;D ;D
PageOfCups Posted August 20, 2018 Posted August 20, 2018 Usually the press avoid anything to do with the occult unless of course its lurid and sensational :)) I was quite afraid of clicking on that link for that very reason. Under a lot of stress right now (Cancer moon and I've been scared of losing my home in the past week, after I had a nasty dream on August 14 involving a home 'invasion' and seeing my cats get hurt in the dream only to witness it possibly-manifesting during the week in my waking life).
EmpyreanKnight Posted August 20, 2018 Posted August 20, 2018 This is nice. If the tone and lack of slant of the article is to be an indicator, I guess the Tarot really is becoming more and more mainstream. Soon the forums will be awash with newbies ;D ;D Fingers crossed! We're so going to reach four digits soon, maybe even before the week is over. :))
Flaxen Posted August 22, 2018 Posted August 22, 2018 That was quite a well-balanced article and interesting to read something in the mainstream press.
