Guides and Guiding Angels

I thought I would open up the floor to some discussion on spirit guides and guiding angels :D

I'll start :D

Angels... I don't have much experience with them but I know I have some hanging around...

Simeon - my personal guardian angel. I first met him during a mediation years ago. The colour I associate with him is indigo.

Archangel Ariel/Azeal - I'm not quite sure which, possibly both, I can see the influence of both of them throughout my life. They are another I met through meditation

Archangel Barachiel - I don't know much about her but she came up in an oracle reading on AT as an image of a woman with rose petals all around her. I had no idea who this was at the time but months later I was lead down a path searching for something else online when I came across that exact image on a page about Barachiel!

I have a couple of faerie guides too (these ones can be found in Froud's Faeries Oracle)

Solus - I had him appear to me one day while I was listen to music. He told me that if I look beneath the silence that's where I can find the fae. Lol typical fae logic there!

The Sage - I've only just started working with him. I discovered I had been a one eyed shaman in a previous life. And conveniently his card is missing from my deck so he has taken over the faery guide card.

I have a few animal guides that have shown up for me. Some I'm not sure about but I'll list them here anyway...

Dragon - this lovely lady has appeared for me very recently. I have an iron pyrite crystal shaped like a dragons head that helps me connect with her. I haven't worked out what she wants to teach me yet though.

Spider - she is the only one I truely know the message of and she likes to remind me regularly! Luckily I'm ok with spiders, we don't really have any poisonous spiders around here except for whitetails, and they only showed up when I wasn't making the connections she wanted me to make! I think she was getting frustrated with me lol

Black Panther - I rediscovered him during a past lives meditation. He had been a guide for me during an Egyptian life and wanted to come back with me to this life. We were both pretty happy to see each other again  having him back is like cuddling up with a comfy old blanket

Horse - has only appeared to me once but I remember exactly what they look like

Lizard - This is one that I have only recently realised has been with me since I was a child. I'm not sure what message they have/had for me is though

Fantail - I'm unsure about this cute little bird but they keep making an appearance around my house.

Fox - I have been seeing and am being drawn to a lot of fox images lately. I not sure if this a new guide or not though

Cockroach - I hesitate to name this one. But it is most likely a Shadow Animal for me. They hardcore creep me out and I REALLY don't want to see any more of them! I guess I don't have much choice in the matter though lol

I used to think how nice it would be to have animal guides (I didn't know if I had any at all), then I made it known that I would like to find out if I had any and get to know them... I think I opened the flood gates lol!

I would love to hear about anyone else's experiences with their guides :)

That is an amazing list! Other than the ones I saw during my scrying session, I am not aware of any other specific guides. I feel that there are others though.

Anyway, I wanted to ask you about a couple of yours;

I wonder about your two Faerie guides. As I've learned about the Fae world, it appears that the idea of cute, little, Tinker Bell-like creatures are not at all what the Fae really are. They are to be more respected than that, for one thing. Maybe not "feared" necessarily, but certainly not to be taken, or interacted with lightly. As such, I am curious as to what your two Fae guides are bringing to you and how they interact with you?

But, having a Dragon guide must be quite awesome!

The Dragon guide is new, I'm still trying to work her out. I need to do some kind of meditation or something I think.

Gah my eyes are trying to close on me as I type so I should really put down my tablet! I'll make sure to reply properly in the morning :)

Ok, proper reply time...

Yes, I've always considered fae folk to be a curious blend of both light and dark. Take djinn (I hope I spelled that right) for example. They securely sit on the fence between light and dark, neither good nor bad, a manifestation and manipulator of pure energy. They will keep their True Name from you (a typical fae thing to do), for names have power, and they will take your words however they please if you are not absolutely specific (another typical fae thing). If you are not careful  with your words you get exactly what you asked for which is nothing at all like you wanted. Just look at the final interaction between Genie and Jafar in Disney's Aladdin. Jafar wanted to be the most powerful genie in the world (or something along those lines), he got exactly what he wanted but, he forgot about the trappings (excuse the pun) that came along with it and was consequently bound by the very thing he desired.

Ultimately,  I believe the fae enjoy being tricky, but they also enjoy doing their job. Their tricks and twisty ways of speaking and seeing things give us opportunities to learn and grow. In Jafar's case, he was given a lesson in humility, among other things. Our lessons need not be so harsh, indeed, the fae would rather see us learn lots of smaller lessons than have the need for one great big lesson like that.

As for my own lessons, well, Solus has been with me for many years. He started as a herald of things to come and helped open my eyes wider to the fae world. My first experience with him was as a tiny red and gold orb that dropped from just below the ceiling and then bounced up onto my shoulder. Once there, I could see him in the corner of my eye as a little man with a bulbous nose and a twinkle in his eye. He told me to hush then said "listen. Can you hear us? If you look beneath the silence you will find us." (I think I had something similar to that as the first line in my signature on AT.) While a rather cryptic statement I still understood. I needed to quiet myself and draw away the veil of surface noise that silence is.

Solus has other lessons for me as well. The keywords from the Faeries Oracle guide fit perfectly here...

Knowledge. Consciousness. Synthesis. Spiritual empowerment.

The Sage is a little different but still the same. He is almost an older wiser version of Solus. He is a shaman as well as a sage. He sees both within and without. He is an accumulator of knowledge and wisdom. I think one of his lessons for me is not to over complicate things.

HA! I think he's also right now teaching me a lesson in patience. I just heard a toot from the courier, my new cards have arrived!! :D However,  I have been told quite firmly that I should finish this post before opening my parcel. Aww I hate having to wait to open parcels! I'm like a kid at Christmas bouncing up and down in anticipation :D

Did that answer your question? I'm not sure. I'm a little distracted right now lol Sage is rolling his eyes at me as if to say 'well go on then, go open your parcel. I'm not going to get anything more out of you right now with THAT sitting next to you calling out to you. I can wait.'

Yay! Off I go then :D

Hey FeeLion! Yes, that did answer my questions! My humble thanks to The Sage. It was very interesting and enlightening actually.

Bear is my Totem animal. I can't say why I know this, it came to me about twenty years ago and somehow I internalized and accepted that 'Bear' energy was protective for me. I would rather have had Horse or Eagle, something more flashy you know, but it is what it is.

My dogs have been sent to me as guides in my life, of this I am also certain, but I cannot articulate why.

I'll bet a lot of people have a feeling that they are protected, or 'guided' but in a subtle sort of way that they have difficulty putting into words.

Bears are very powerful totems. I would think that they would be very protective of their humans, as well as teaching you so much about being in nature safely. I'm going to have to look that up. I did chuckle at wanting something more flashy, but bears don't need the flash, do they? They just have a commanding presence. ;)

I've always had a very strong affinity towards whales. Can they even be a totem animal?

I can't believe that I just found this thread! Too cool. TheFeeLion - great list! I'm impressed with how much effort you must have put into connecting with your guides!

Empyrean - I don't see why a whale couldn't be a totem. Just my opinion.

As for my guides, I'm still working on who they are.

I do have a strong connection with Archangel Michael. I've had some great messages from him during hard times where I really needed him. I have also received a message from Azrael, and a couple of strong messages from the Virgin Mary. I was raised Catholic but no longer practice, so I'm not surprised that I have these connections...

I do have at least one spirit guide who has been particularly helpful during pendulum divinations. I'm not sure what their name is, but yay for you, guide!

Absolutely. Whales are connected to creative energy as well. If you were to listen to their song too- it will guide you in the direction of your tune with which you can guide yourself to hearing your song & creating a new direction altogether entirely.

My animal guide is Deer, namely a doe named Grace. She's wonderful and has kept me grounded and calm.

Yes! And very powerful ones. There's a great book called ANIMAL SPEAK by Ted Andrews. It covers so many guides and has nice write ups. It's my go-to "bible" for animal totems. You might like it in your library.

Whale is not one of my personal guides, but after my dad died (he drowned), (blue) whale started showing up in my dreams. Whenever it did, I knew my father was "around".

Thanks everyone! And sandrang123, I believe I have that book, tho I'm quite sure that I haven't read it yet. Once I do I shall write back here. :)

Perfect name for a Deer guide, as Grace and Diplomacy are what they bring ;)

I have a polar bear named Nanook - that just means Bear, generally. I have a crow with no name, but it is my guts, my being. So I guess it has my name. I have also a rabbit on the fringes (also no name) but it turns up for me when rabbit traits are needed (listening for danger etc). I have a wolf pack always around me.

I feel very protected :D

Thanks for your recommendation, sandrang123! I found the book you mentioned in my personal library, and I transcribed the section on the whale as a totem animal HERE for future reference.
