Combination Order

How do you prefer to read tarot card combinations?

1. By order of what card comes first

2. By arcana (major first)

3. As long as the cards appear on the same reading, does not matter

The title of this thread plus your user name is making me think of getting Chinese food for dinner, LOL!

I'm interested in this as well - so far what I've been doing is looking at each card individually as I put it down, then looking at the spread as a whole, seeing what is similar, what is different, who's looking at who, what direction things are going, etc. while keeping in mind the order of the cards as well.

In my view, it doesn't matter. You can do it however you want. I just read in the order dealt, left to right, I don't give importance to one or anything. In other reading systems this is important (like Lenormand, Kippers, etc, the order of the combination changes the message but they are a combination system for the message) but in tarot I don't think it matters. Whichever way works best for you :)

Never thought my username will induce food thoughts. Lol indeed.

I am working on reading cards as to where face cards point/face, but having a hard time with those facing forward. By forward I mean facing us

I kept telling this to myself, yeah. Somehow, my gut tells me to read the cards a certain way. I wanted to work on a uniform way of reading so really it's a challenge.

Like Dan says,  with tarot it does not matter, do it how you feel is best for you.  For myself l never use spreads and positions etc. l just lay my cards out in rows of 4 or five reading them one by one and seeing the story it relays.

l have done all my private readings this way and it works for me.

The thing is to relax, find your own method and go from there, tarot does not need any complications, and what suits one reader does not necessarily suit another.

You say your gut tells you to read a certain way, then do this, where is the challenge?  This may be your special way to read. Practice your method with family and friends and see how it works out for you.  Going against this may  indeed cause the challenge you speak of.
