Penthasilia Posted September 16, 2018 Posted September 16, 2018 Please move if I posted in the wrong section. So- I originally used the regular DM with borders and it didn't do much for me but languish in a cupboard until I gifted it. Recently- I tried out the borderless and for some reason, I really meshed with it much more than before. Probably a combination of life changes, me changes and, to a small extent, loving borderless decks. That being said- I have refreshed myself with reading with this deck for the fall as I am also getting ready to plunge into his TdM style deck and oracle deck (ole Mildred). As I have been using it, I was wondering if the big book is worth it? I feel it is a very readable deck on its own- and so really don't buy the companion books unless they add a hefty weight to the understanding of the deck (like the Baba books- the nuances that bring more depth to the cards and such). So- that being said- I would love to hear from people who have it. Has it significantly changed your reading? Is there enough depth to make the space and financial step to get it? Am I missing something with the deck that the book will fill? I have no doubt it is beautiful and well made from the pictures, just wondering if this is something that is worth the investment of money, time and space. Thanks all.
Petalene Posted September 22, 2018 Posted September 22, 2018 I’m pretty new to tarot so you can take that into consideration. I really like the book. It’s interesting to read about how the deck was created and he points out several things I haden’t noticed in the pictures and the card meanings are detailed and insightful. The art is gorgeous. I bought it off the websight and got a signed copy. I have the app as well and I find the short meanings on there helpful, even for other decks because it has 3-4 upright and 3-4 reversed keywords. I think the deck reads fine without the book. I also haven’t been able to spend as much time as I’d like reading the book yet. Hopefully this weekend I’ll have some time.

Papageno Posted February 23, 2020 Posted February 23, 2020 The Deviant Moon Tarot book is one of my favorites, it's almost a bible. Patrick's insights are as revealing as much as they are a delight to read about. For instance, you'll definitely gain a new and decisively honest viewpoint n the Hierophant, one that many people can relate to, but maybe more importantly, an attitude that the reader may never have expected Patrick to have the guts to express both in his artwork for the card as well as in print. He's an inspiration for all artists and everything involved in the creative process. The graphics and overall layout of the book are simply wonderful, and unlike books for a few other decks (which shall remain unnamed), the pictures of his tarot art are full page and in full color. It's a large book, a tome actually and definitely worth the price of admission.
