Guest snobchickenleg Posted September 23, 2018 Posted September 23, 2018 We all know that 7 of cups means options, dreams, illusions and others of the same nature. I don't know why I don't want to read this particular card as illusion or dreams. Illusions, dreams are all manifestations of the mind. Isn't more of a swords thing since swords suit somehow relates to mind (thoughts.)? I always take this card as option.
Grandma Posted September 23, 2018 Posted September 23, 2018 Illusions, dreams are all manifestations of the mind. Isn't more of a swords thing since swords suit somehow relates to mind (thoughts.)? This is a fascinating question. Creativity, emotion, intellect, productivity - represented by wands, cups, swords, pentacles - are all aspects of the human spirit, aren't they? Some of our experiences are more seated in one or another, some of our experiences are more drawn from a blend of two or more. I don't think these four parts of ourselves, or of the Tarot, can be separated from one another. Like a symphony, sometimes melody predominates, sometimes harmony, sometimes musicians take solo turns. To me, although dreams and illusions are to an extent functions of thought, they are even more founded in emotion. But I compose my music and you compose yours. Our interpretations are equally valid, equally beautiful.
Guest snobchickenleg Posted September 23, 2018 Posted September 23, 2018 Thanks for your input Grandma[/member]! I agree that these suits represent each aspect and they interfold. It is just that, when I stared at this card, I realized that each of the seven cups contains something the person is trying to reach. What came to my mind first and foremost is the word "desire." For me, it is not just dreaming but more of longing about things that person doesn't have. Desire is a strong feeling of longing about something which I think is more related to what the card represents - cups or emotions. I've been pondering this for quite sometime.
Oumee Posted September 23, 2018 Posted September 23, 2018 Hello guys, ...just my two cents... I would not say that illusions or dreams belong to swords family due the fact that they situate in our heads. Everything is situated there, emotions, ideas, feeling of stability and passion as well...allof those elements start in our heads. I think that 7oC are fairly in cups family, because it is not "straight" thinking or logical thinking. It is (as you wrote) illusions, dreams, fantasy pieces and they are not logic, sometimes they are not real. They are always (more or less) colored by our needs, emotions, will, feelings. I guess, what you mentioned in your thread, thinking, speculates, contemplations, medidations is more matter of sword court family. O. <3 <3 <3
ascetic Posted November 10, 2018 Posted November 10, 2018 Swords indicates thoughts. Cups indicates emotions not that are essentially rational. 7 of cups can indicate wild imagination which is good to have in a creative reading or an early stage of a relationship-triggering fantasies. But this can be a not-to-have card in terms of practical matters.
XAshleyMarie Posted November 12, 2018 Posted November 12, 2018 Cups I think refer to emotions rather than "logic." So emotionally a person has options (sometimes too many), and emotionally a person can be confused into thinking they have so many options and not seeing the bigger picture aka where the confusion comes from. So I think it's more from an emotional standpoint. Swords would be what a personally logically wants, or logically thinks they must do, removing emotion. And cups is what a person emotionally wants to satisfy them. Hence why sometimes they're not thinking clearly but I think sometimes with logic people can sometimes not think clearly either. So since cups signify emotion... I think 7 of cups refers to an EMOTIONAL decisions a person is considering.
