Ashe9 Posted October 2, 2018 Posted October 2, 2018 Hello! I am new to the world of tarot. I was wondering, if I have a deck with a few bent cards, will it cause the reading to be inaccurate? Like, if a card happens to come out more often because it is bent, does it matter? I’ve seen people who use really old decks, so I assume you can. Just curious what others think.
HOLMES Posted October 2, 2018 Posted October 2, 2018 hmm if a deck happens to be bent so much that it comes out more often I can only imagine putting it away into a drawer with heavy books and try to straighten them out.. otherwise if it wasnt' interfering in the reading it should be ok. example . my own deck was out in the rain at a pow wow so it is bent in the middle but it can be used .
Raggydoll Posted October 2, 2018 Posted October 2, 2018 If you want to fix the bent cards then going over them one by one and gently bending them back is the only way that I have found to work. Trying to flatten a whole deck just never worked for me. But if you don’t mind a few bent cards then I think you should try using the deck as is and see how you get along with it.
Guest Night Shade Posted October 2, 2018 Posted October 2, 2018 I have a deck where a card is bent, and whenever I read with it, that card always ends up on the bottom of the deck; I guess when I cut the cards, the bend makes me cut to it. It usually doesn't affect the readings however- the cards still seem to end up where they're supposed to be. If your readings with this deck still make sense, then I say go ahead and use it.
Saturn Celeste Posted October 2, 2018 Posted October 2, 2018 You can put a towel over the cards and run over the towel with a warm iron. NOT hot! See if that helps.
DanielJUK Posted October 3, 2018 Posted October 3, 2018 I have a few decks with bent cards, one very annoyingly that I sat on during a reading and thought where on earth has position 5 gone? :)) I think this depends if it is too annoying for you or not! I can live with mine. I have tried putting the card between heavy books and leaving for a few days.
Page of Ghosts Posted October 3, 2018 Posted October 3, 2018 I had a card in the deck that was damaged on the picture side so I could always feel it when it was at the bottom of the deck while shuffling. I don't think it came up a lot in readings but since I felt it so often I'm sure I shuffled a lot extra. Depending on how bent the card is you could try bending it in the opposite direction. I don't think it will make readings inaccurate, but maybe shuffling isn't as easy or comfortable with several wonky cards?
