Ix Chel Posted October 11, 2018 Posted October 11, 2018 I saw on the internet several cards from the High Priestess with spider(webs). I do not have the deck names. But I was wondering, what is the meaning of the symbol spider and spider web? Thanks.
Raggydoll Posted October 11, 2018 Posted October 11, 2018 Spiders are traditionally associated with mysteries, secrets and the unknown. I would say that these images are referring to the big, invisible web of fate and the strings of life. It’s a bit like the norns in Norse mythology. They were in a position to see (and control) the past, present and future as they wove the web of life. But unlike the norns that actually created the web, I view The high priestess as someone sho can see the web (the big picture) and has more of a passive role. She’s the observer; the knower, perhaps even the gatekeeper - but I don’t see her as the creator (even though these cards seem to suggest that she is the spider who is responsible for the web)
