What is Your Comfort Deck?

Hello, everyone

 

Do you have a comfort deck?  A deck that you go to when you want a soothing, gentle reading that you know will calm you and let you know that everything will be all right?  A deck that just lifts your spirits? Or a deck that makes you feel better just by holding it (or is that just me?).  Mine are the Hanson-Roberts Tarot and the Happy Tarot.  The Hanson-Roberts was my first deck, so it feels like an old friend.  It's artwork is gentle, with soft pastels, and I know I'll always get an encouraging reading from it.  The Happy Tarot is the lift-my-spirits deck - when I'm feeling down, I pull it out, and it always makes me smile.

Britt's Third Eye Tarot is an utter delight to work with and quickly worked its way up into my top five decks. The Circo Tarot is very bright and welcoming, but it also doesn't hold back so I'm not sure if it would fall under comfort deck for me.

I think my choice would be the Joie de Vivre. Doesn't leave out the bad stuff, but approaches it in a hopeful way.

For me I'd have to go with the Joie de Vivre, Paulina and the Sasuraibito. They're all really nice, balanced decks that communicate well with me  :love:

Le Tarot des Femmes Erotiques, for sure. It's always been very kind and soft to me.

Ancestral Path - it was my first reading deck and still smells of the incense I kept in the drawer with it.

 

Froud’s Faeries and Tarot of the Sidhe - I don’t feel so alone with my problems when I use them.

The tarot of the fairy light has also a soothing and empowering feeling

Both the Tarot of the Magical Forest and the Mibramig Tarot do that for me. Magical Forest is like that friend who gives you tea and a hug and the Mibramig is the one that makes you laugh.

My comfort deck is my Roots of Asia l use it for myself as well as for other people.  When l pick this deck up its like having a warm, knowing and spiritual best friend by my side.  It tells the truth always, and even the harsher cards enable you to see and tell the story in a more sympathetic and gentle way.

I so agree with this, these decks embrace me and they feel alive.  They are honest and tell me what I need to know (even if I do not want it) but they are my beloved friends.  Now if I am feeling really fragile then The Joie the Vivre, it is so empathetic in the way it delivers the messages.

The Good Tarot is my comfort deck.  When I'm feeling rubbish it puts a positive spin on every situation.  I try not to use it for super-serious; readings as it can downplay the negative aspects of life which I believe are as important as the positive when reading Tarot.

 

But I find it a joy to look at and it's a comfort in hard times when I need a deck that's going to be really gentle on me.

 

I know it's a contraversial deck but I believe that it's a case of knowing the limitations of the deck and remembering the limitations when reading with it.

When I'm feeling nostalgic I go to the Gypsy Witch Fortune Telling Cards in the orange box.  Reminds me of things from when I was much younger and brings a smile.

 

Just to bring a smile and lighten up my mood I go with Froud's The Heart of Faerie Oracle and the Mibramig Tarot.

 

And just to feel grounded and tune me in to the cosmos - works every time - The Tarot of the Zircus Magi. :)

My comfort deck is the Raven’s Prophecy. I am a huge fan of the artist/author but was really disappointed when this one first came out. I hated the orange borders, hated the font, etc. But it clicked with me recently and I finally bought it and now it's my favorite deck! I even want to buy another copy so I can trim one of them for a travel deck. But anyway, it feels like a friend and I love the way the guidebook is written. It just gives me so much happiness to use it!

I tend to go to Green Witch Tarot (first themed deck I owned) grounding for me.. however not certain it's nurturing as such. More daily guidance type. Shadowscapes had problems bonding with so I'm still searching.....

The Dreaming Way is so beautiful that I always find it comforting, especially the landscapes look so lush and inviting... and I'd add the warm, lovely Maria Celia which always seems so approachable and even attentive  :love:

Its still Roots of Asia for me, but having been working with the Robin Wood lately,  this has also become a truthful and comforting working deck,  we click together.

I love my Luna Sol deck, so warm and open and a joy to hold and work with.

 

I also love my old Universal Waite, it feels well used and familiar

First and foremost, my RWS. It's just so special to me. It's like having a hot cup of coffee with a beloved childhood friend. It's honest and gets the point across without any guess work...it just speaks my language and I love it dearly.

 

My Druidcraft, Joie de Vivre, and Paulina are always dear and beloved, as well as my Llewellyn and Robin Wood.
