I also think it's both.

To be honest, I still don't know if people (including me) can be psychic or just highly perceptive and open to subconscious hints, but I think tarot cards are an amazingly well working prompt for those skills. I often wonder how did the first creators of decks - and the ones who've been developing them further - managed to so accurately capture the human condition; life's different circumstances, emotions, frustrations, needs, wishes...

I like to practice with other methods than tarot to flex my intuition, for example I read clouds, random image generator, people's social media photos, dreams, anything really. It seems to work nearly on par with tarot - I'm able to pick cues and tell meaningful messages to people so I don't think it's just the cards.

Cards work better for me at the moment because I've practised with them and they have an established, shared system, unlike clouds or random signs found from the streets. Yet, cards are one tool among many in interpreting this world and ourselves.

You’re absolutely right about that. I think with practice one could teach themself to read just about anything!  I’d be interested to try other things myself.

Ok now on about everything else!  I have been at work all day in here lurking and dying to respond to all of this.

I agree that part of the reading becomes ritualistic. I just found myself doing something. I always cut the deck a certain way, then place my hands over the piles to “feel” them and choose one. I have no idea why I do this. Or where I got the idea to do this from. I just don’t feel right now doing it. I saw a very gifted psychic once and she used nothing. Could just rattle on intimate details about my life that no one knew. I noticed she was chewing something. I asked about it and she said it was a piece of ginger root. She said it brought her gifts out and that I should try it because it would bring mine out too. Never mentioned that I was in to reading etc. never did try it either, maybe I should!

I have tarot cards pop into my head all the time!  Some that haunt me. I have had a situation where a card was just totally perplexing me for weeks and finally I’m at work and someone mentions a song and that picture of that card jumps into my brain. And it was the ah ha moment of “so thaaaaats what it’s trying to tell me!”

Sign I could go on and on about signs being everywhere. They really are. I think it’s all about opening your awareness to them and accepting the message that’s there. I’m one of those people who does far too much second guessing. I could drive past a billboard that said “Adora stop harping on it you know he likes you.” And still find a way to rationalize why that sign wasn’t meant for me! Haha

it is like singing or acting..

everyone can sing in theory,, but not everyone can sing on the level of  Kacey Musgraves, or frank Sinatra.

you have your local groups the one who are good enough for bars,, festivals but won't get your 5000 plus followers..

then you have thoseof us who love singing off key in their house.

then you have a person who is able to sing exactly like kacey or better but due to lack of drive,, looks , or circumstances simply didn't go the singing route.. but if you lucky enugh to get them to sing on karaoke or somethinglike that  you get surpsingly happy.

that is the secret tarot reader we all want to be.. it is like an ideal not to become the most famous but to become the most best we can.. to develop our inuition to a degree..

alas not everyone can be like so and so.. but in a way we are lucky for we don't have an idea  of what a tarot reader on the level of a master musican or singer is in the tarot.

and i meant that.. we don't see tarot readings shows so all we have really is our own idealistic version of what a tarot reader is..

perhaps the theme sould be to differante between tarot reader,, and grandmaster tarot reader..and no real paper , aka all the knowledge in the world , and no flow and you are not a grandmaster tarot reader..

all the inution in hte world and not an iota of tarot knowledge doens'tmake you a tarot reader,it just make you psychic..

to clarify that,, i am talking abut the difference of pictorial/inuitative reader and someone who just lays out the card hazardly and doens't even try to understand some tarot.

one thing i liked about 78 degrees is how rachael studied the tarot on her own looking at the pictures .

I think it's tarot.

Tarot is never wrong. We, as humans, are wrong a lot! Giving in and trusting the cards allows you to be a better reader. Not everyone can do it.

So in a way...it is both! Haha. But I really think it's tarot above all else.

Love the Kacey Musgraves reference!  <3
