Hello from Montana

I picked up a Tarot deck for the first time a year and a half ago when I was 51. Things like Tarot cards had never been on my radar, but I was critiquing a story that featured them, and I suddenly felt compelled to learn the cards. Like, I was obsessed. I learned the Rider-Waite cards and basic spreads in a few months, just in time to help me foresee and cope with the death of my 86 year-old mother, whom I was caregiving in my home at the time. If I hadn't been pulling the cards to have a heads-up, my mom's last hours would not have been pretty. I truly credit the Tarot (and Saturn Celeste - she helped me learn so much) for providing my mother with a love-filled passing.

Since then, I moved to my family's abandoned ranch homestead and have been teaching myself all kinds of great renovation skills. I've also been writing, painting, rescuing kittens and puppies, picking berries, canning, soaking up the energies of the land, discovering all kinds of magic, and carving magic wands. I've gone country woo-woo in my midlife.

I only own two decks: Rider Waite and Linestrider. I love both of these decks so much and get such good readings with them, I can't imagine wanting another deck. I am tempted by some of the lovely artwork on other decks, but I find myself getting overwhelmed at all the choices. Actually, this forum is a little overwhelming for me, lol. But winter is coming and I'm pretty isolated (but with fiber optic), so it'll be good to have a new obsession. :)

Hello new friend and welcome! We have run into each other already (when you commented on my post regarding how I work with crow energy.) Any friend of Saturn is a friend of mine.  (( I am so glad that I have had the privilege of getting to know her, she is a real gem  <3 And I get that this forum can seem overwhelming at first. We have so much fun stuff going on that it can be hard to choose where to jump in first. But take your time. Make yourself a cup of tea and then go off in any direction that speaks to you. You will love it here! This is such a warm and nurturing place and we have some of the most kind, generous and insightful members you could ever find!

Talk to you soon  X/

Hello and welcome, Day Soleil (beautiful name!)

I live with my mom and help to care for her, so I understand how overwhelming it can seem at times. I'm so sorry for your loss, but I'm glad you were able to help your mom through it.  <3

Hello Day Soleil!  That is a fabulous name!!  It's really great to have you here.  I know you are isolated where you are so I'm happy to know you'll be hanging around, that way you'll have a support group as well.  Winter will get cold and hard on you but you'll be fine.  You are in such hallowed ground up there and you will be protected.  It sounds like you have a full life already, so many positive and nature loving things you do.  You do need to get a camera though and share some photographs of the wonderful area you live in!! Birds, snow filled days, berries on trees, and springtime in Montana.  Bees!  Look for the bees too!  lol  Anyway, you've pulled through it all beautifully and it's so good to have you here.  Thank you for joining my friend.  ((

Take one post at a time here.  There is so much to read that will keep you busy for awhile!  Join in a group like Raggydoll's and relax.  This forum moves along to the heartbeat of the members, not too fast and not too slow.  We are all like minded students of the tarot here and embrace everyone.  Pm me anytime you want, I'm always around.

Welcome Day Soleil[/member] its great to have you here!  Its okay only having 2 decks - I know loads of people have extensive deck collections but so long as you're happy working with the decks you have then there's no need to get more!  (I've only got 3 decks - 2 tarot and 1 oracle).

Enjoy venturing into the forum, I know its overwhelming to start with, but like Saturn said - take it one post at a time and you'll find your way around in no time :)

Thank you, everyone for the warm welcome.

I got so inspired perusing the site, I just ordered two decks this morning: ...

erm, I forgot what they're called! lol. Let me look.

The Good Tarot

Nicoletta Ceccoli Tarot

I have several more in my wish list.

Looking forward to finding my way around the site. I like finding little "homes" in these online communities so I'm not feeling so lost.

We have a study group for the Nicoletta deck.  It never took off but if you want to participate I can get it going for you.

Day Soleil[/member] what this forum is really good for are exchanges.  We have many new members come in and want to understand the tarot better by getting help with their readings.  We do have restrictions for them and the directions are on the top of the page but once you feel more comfortable, you might want to check out the exchanges and see if you can help anyone.  You'll find that section here:

https://www.thetarotforum.com/tarot-readings-107/

And if you want to set up your own little exchange you can do that here:

https://www.thetarotforum.com/tarot-exchanges/

You will read other people for feedback or they can do a reading for you in exchange for your reading.

Hello....I'm sorry to hear of your loss. I can relate that the forum is a bit overwhelming. I'm not quite sure I understand all the rules and how it is organized and there is such a wonderful wealth of information here it can be a lot to absorb!
