Hi there :)

 

I just joined up today, I hope you're all doing well :) I only started reading Tarot a few months ago, but so far they've been really interesting and helpful (if at times a little disconcerting)!

 

I started with the cards because I have what my my grandma called kenning (sort of a radio wave? It's hard to explain, but basically, sometimes I know things I shouldn't or couldn't, but mostly it's useless stuff or jumbled. It's an Irish thing  ::) ) and I though they might help organise it all - and so far it's really helped, though I sometimes need some help understanding what I'm pulling through. My immediate family is HUGELY sceptical of anything vaguely non-empirical, a trait I inherited, but there's been too much stuff that's happened to ignore, so now I'm on a  quest for answers (I can't go to them for advice because they'll think I've lost my marbles ;D )

 

I joined this forum hoping I could chat to some like-minded folks with more experience and understanding in Tarot reading (maybe the other stuff too), and make a few friends while I try figure out how to handle it all :)

 

So that's this nutcase in a nutshell, and I look forward to chatting to you all!

After 12-and-change years of reading, I still can get floored by what comes up in the cards. It's not so disconcerting now (usually), but I well remember that feeling. I hope your journey stays full of wonder, even as you get more comfortable with the cards!

Thank you!! I’m really starting to get into them, it’s weird but wonderful how a few cards can give very pointed and helpful advice - they’ve (almost entirely) been a big comfort :)

 

I might do a post on kenning and see if anyone else has something similar and answer any questions :) It probably has another name - tbh I don’t know if that’s just what my family calls it!

Omygoodness, what a gift you have! I've not heard it called "kenning" but I used to go to a mediumship circle and was always amazed at the spectrum of gifts people have. I'm so excited for you and your journey. I hope you find many ways to develop it on here. Intuition exercises are super fun and might help you make sense of your intuitive language so it's less of a jumble. I know this book is old and looks super corny, but I found Laura Day's book ever so eye-opening, and I'm also from a very skeptical, empirically-minded upbringing. http://a.co/d/hGKslqE. Might be in your local library.

Oh I am a black cat lover!  I have 2 brothers, Binx and Pyewackett and dearly love them.  They are the most gentle and loving cats.  Binx especially takes over the newest babies and lays with them and grooms them and they are just the sweetest cats!  I don't know what I'd do without my black kitties.
