mousiecat Posted December 4, 2018 Posted December 4, 2018 Hi Everyone! I am thrilled to have found this forum. I am new to Tarot and also new to opening myself up to the spiritual realm, so I am very happy to find a friendly online community that is open to wide-eyed newbies like myself! 2018 has been a hard year and I have been through a lot of confusions, humiliations, and losses. So I'm reaching beyond the material world in search of energy, healing, and communing with a higher realm. My inspiration to reach towards the spiritual comes from readings from womanist spiritual activists such as Layli Maparyan, AnaLouise Keating, and Gloria Anzaldúa, so if anyone stumbling upon this post has been inspired by any of these women, I would love to connect with you! I have gotten myself the Rider-Waite Tarot deck along with The Pictorial Key to the Tarot to begin my study. I am also using this adorable phone app called Labyrinthos to study the cards and journal about them. If any of you have any suggestions for beginning my journey I would love to hear it! It is important to note that I am the mother of two delightful cats, Simone--a refined Princess with the fur pattern of a little white tiger--and Cordelia--a rambunctious black cat with big, curious yellow eyes. I am excited to get to know you all!
Grizabella Posted December 4, 2018 Posted December 4, 2018 Welcome! In my own life, there have been many lows (I'm 73) and sometimes it took that for me to slow down and look UP spiritually to my Higher Power because I just go head-on through life thinking I know how to handle everything and that I can makethings happen instead of letting them happen on their own. But even though I land on my face because of that sometimes, I do better and stop thinking I know so much about what needs to happen in my life. Taking up the cards now is really a beautiful skill to learn. I've been using the cards for 20 years and reading professionally for about 15 years. It was a long process for me to learn what I needed to know to use the cards in an experienced and knowledgeable way and there were times when I felt I just would never get it.but I just kept trying and it finally happened for me. This is a very supportive forum. Make some friends, ask some questions. read a lot. You can even get on the list for being given a Tarot mentor when one becomes available. I look forward to knowing you better. :)
stephanelli Posted December 4, 2018 Posted December 4, 2018 Welcome to the forum! Day Soleil Posted December 4, 2018 Posted December 4, 2018 Welcome, Mousiecat! I'm excited for your journey! There's a saying, "to be interesting, you have to be interested (in something)." But I think it should be, "To be happy, you have to be interested (in something)." I hope learning about Tarot brings you happiness, reunites you with your spiritual truths and gets you back on the joyful road you want to follow. xoxo Day
joy Posted December 4, 2018 Posted December 4, 2018 Hello mousiecat[/member] X/ Great to have you here and accompany you on your journey. Sorry to hear 2018 was a tough year, but I think unfortunately only when life gets tough we humans tend to look into the spiritual world. Wish you a much better 2019! <3
Guest Night Shade Posted December 4, 2018 Posted December 4, 2018 Hello and welcome, mousiecat. This is a very friendly community, and we're happy to have you here! :) <3
HermitWriter Posted December 4, 2018 Posted December 4, 2018 Welcome, and congrats on the start of your tarot journey! I'm sorry it's been a rough year for you. Hopefully learning tarot helps you reset and begin conquering once again! :) I'm a cat-dad by default, and while the marbled monster can be a holy terror, she and I have been bonding over the cards. She HATES laps, unless I'm reading tarot. Then she is happy to purr and snuggle while I try to read around her. Anyway, don't be surprised if your companions help "enhance" your readings. 8)

I look forward to knowing you better. :) Thank you so much for your wisdom and encouragement! Yes, I was definitely living head-on and I was not taking any higher power into account and I fell on my face. It has been humbling, for sure, and I have been practicing patience while I heal and search for a new path. I appreciate you sharing your experience learning Tarot. It can seem intimidating, but I am seeing the journey as the reward and I have enjoyed learning about myself while I get to know the cards. After some time on the forums I will definitely consider putting myself on the list for a mentor. This community seems amazing so far, and I am enjoying taking it all in!
