Hey all!

I have a question to raise to all

This is in NO way a criticism - just my contemplations

I have been reading here on the forum for quiet some time - and I see myself as a rather good reader- I am not Super psychic but I feel I can attune quiet well to the questions  plus have a rich inner world when doing interpretations.

Now, my issue is that when people ask questions they don't ( usually) provide much information- which means that ALL I get are the cards- now many a times I create a narrative which is plausible to me - only to discover that when applied to the life of the querent  it has different meanings- details  I knew nothing about- so basically what I get in some of my feedbacks are " well... I see it as... " which might differ on different degrees from what I have said.

I am starting to get the feeling that I am almost "tested" for my psychic ability- not really but in a sense- since when I do reading with people we sit and discuss the cards together to find the right interpretation for them.

The feedback itself while very kind, often doesn't mean much for me- since it is not like the reading is "wrong" but often times- according to the querent less than accurate - the themes are correct but not the small details which make the reading- again due to the details I was lacking ( which is usually almost everything)

At times I do get it spot on- when my version corresponds very closely to that of the querent- but it seems to me more luck than skill- so my issue is what can I do to better benefit from the wonderful exchanges here on forum- and /or perhaps is there a way to make the readings even more accurate despite the lack of information..

Hope I made the idea clear- and again this is in NO way a criticism just my own expressions of my feelings as of late :D

Thank you for answering!

Hi Aldor44!

I haven't done exchanges on this site yet, but I have on other sites, so hopefully what I have to offer is pertinent :)

I think the issue might be twofold: first, when we're sitting with a querent in person, we get immediate feedback. There's a give and take right away. So as we pull cards and relate them to the querent, we know pretty quickly (usually) if we're resonating with them. We have a chance to ask questions, and adjust accordingly. Over email, the process is delayed. It takes time to study the cards, and then to write out a reply, and it takes time for the querent to type their reply back to us. By the time the feedback arrives, it may feel like we've put in a lot of effort for nothing. So it might help to think of that initial feedback as similar to the opening series of questions in your in-person readings.

I think (and I only have my own experience as evidence) that this kind of leads into the other issue. Here on this forum, you're probably reading for other readers. And sometimes readers are better at answering questions than they are at asking them. What I mean is, I don't usually turn to another tarot reader for a reading, because most of the questions I would be comfortable asking, I usually am comfortable drawing my own spread and exploring on my own. Sometimes the helpers have the toughest time seeking help, know what I mean? So it might be worth trying to draw out their question a bit further before you start the reading, or at least before you send your interpretation over.

To use a simple example, say you've pulled The Hierophant, Death, and The Sun. Your first reaction might be: "Looks like you've had some struggles with traditional religion. I can tell you that's no longer serving you, and it's time to walk away. But take heart! A new path is ahead, and it will bring joy and illumination to your life!" With an in-person reading, it might take two seconds for the querent to say "Actually, I was more wondering about my job situation." Changing gears might take another few seconds, but then the reading goes on smoothly. Over email or on a message board, that process takes a lot longer. Nuance also gets lost in the typing, because there aren't vocal inflections or body language to take cues from. Heck, I don't even know if this tome is making the sense I want it to make  ;D

Anyway... TL;DR: try to get details ahead of time, if you feel that the question you've been asked is too vague. Even narrowing it down to "are we reading about spiritual issues, romance, career, or...?" can help. And at the end of the day, take comfort that - even if it feels like your reading was off base - the cards still resonated with your querent, and got them thinking about what they actually wanted to learn.

I hope this all helps!
