KatieKeene Posted January 9, 2019 Posted January 9, 2019 I read for myself quite often, and I find that my readings are usually pretty objective and have been accurate. To be safe, I find it helpful to meditate beforehand to clear my mind as best as possible. If the thing I'm asking about is very important and I'm really worried I'll influence the reading, sometimes I'll get a "second opinion" (e.g., let someone I trust read for me to see how they match up). If their readings differ to mine, I'll know I'm not really in a good mindset to do my own readings and take a little break.
Iekthecat Posted January 22, 2019 Posted January 22, 2019 Definitely read a lot for myself, also as a self development tool. Lot of times you wont like what you get, just be aware your mind will try to spin it and you’ll be fine!
Arch Posted January 22, 2019 Posted January 22, 2019 I read for myself a lot, there is certainly a risk of messing it all up, but I find that to be the case with all activities I partake in. ;) I get where you are coming from in terms of judgement, but I find that reading for myself lets me see that judgement more clearly. Especially if I write down my reading. Then I have the option of doing some soul-searching on my perception of myself. As for the energy, it is obviously very different since the other person isn't there. Some of the energetic phenomena in a reading is social in nature, and will plain just not be there. However this only amplifies the archetypal energies that are there regardless of the other reader. This can be very powerful, as having someone else read for you, does not necessarily always amplify them. Especially energies that are about individuality. Another person will just feel like an intrusion, no matter how skilled they are at staying neutral. Personally I find that reading for myself has helped me get to know myself much better. I do most of my readings for myself, some I share, like in my journal, and some I don't.
DecadentDaydreams Posted January 22, 2019 Posted January 22, 2019 Until recently I only read for myself. I read for self discovery, understanding, insight and growth. The only "future" reading I do is an the outcome position in the CC. I got into Tarot via I Ching, and feel that the way I use and interpret that heavily influences my approach to Tarot. The cards guide you to the answers already in you that you're unaware of. This is a weird anecdote, but stay with me. When I was 19 my friend pointed to my chin and said, "I love your butt-chin, it's so little and cute." I didn't know what to say, I didn't have a butt-chin!! I would know if I had a facial feature resembling a shrunken buttocks. I got closer to the mirror to study my chin and made a life changing discovery - a small, lateral dimple dividing my chin. A tiny butt-chin. My whole life, I had no idea. It's been there the whole time, I checked!! Yet, for almost 2 decades I looked right past it. Compared to the rest of my face, it's minor. But it's a part of the whole. Without it my face wouldn't be mine. Now that I know it's there, I'll never not know it's there. I feel this is how Tarot and I Ching guide us to. They help us examine our beliefs in various areas of our lives. Looking through the eyes of the cards we are able to contemplate aspects of ourself. Qualities that have always been in you, instinctively influencing you and your decisions. Once you see these parts of yourself, you can't unsee them. It's this awareness that leads to growth. It's empowering if you can be honest with yourself. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
