Faye Posted December 12, 2018 Posted December 12, 2018 I’ve been having such fun with my cards, reading, playing, and shuffling etc, and they’ve been giving me such energy recently! So without thinking it through, just as a sort of “checking in” thing, I asked them how they felt about me. I got an overwhelmingly wonderful response, but thinking about it afterwards, that could have backfired horribly X-D From there I began to wonder whether this was a “done” or “not done” thing in the Tarot community, so... Do you consider it a Tarot-no-no to ask your cards their opinion of you? Or do you check in with your cards? I’m super curious to find out if other readers have strong opinions about this!
joy Posted December 12, 2018 Posted December 12, 2018 I do not think there is any no-no, but I think if you keep asking it the same question over and over again, the answers become washy. When I got my deck I interviewed it, using this spread: Tell me about yourself. What is your most important characteristic? What are your strengths as a deck? What are your limits as a deck? What are you here to teach me? How can I best learn and collaborate with you? What is the potential outcome of our working relationship? I think this can be done more often than just once you get the deck 8)
Faye Posted December 12, 2018 Author Posted December 12, 2018 That’s a really good idea to interview the deck joy[/member] , thanks for this! :)) I’m going to do this ASAP, I’m definitely curious to find out how they see themselves!
Grandma Posted December 12, 2018 Posted December 12, 2018 Faye, this is a weird question, and I mean that as a high compliment. I love the way your mind works. Quirky people are the best!

DoNotDelete Posted December 12, 2018 Posted December 12, 2018 I thought I was the only one ! haha (( I have asked them how they feel about me, and what else do they want me to do for them (in the environment they are in). I love these kind of questions because I believe Tarot decks are alive and with this way I can communicate and see how they feel about me and understand at what stage is our connection. I also do Tarot interviews using this questions: 1) Are you a male or female energy? 2) What card sums up your personality? 3) What issues do you specialize in? 4) Your favorite card (at the moment) is...? 5) What message do you have for me? 6) What would you like to know about me?

Friend! Tarot friend! Yay!! (( I also feel like mine has a distinct personality and energy, and these questions would go a long way in finding out more about that, thank you for the suggestions! Perhaps it’s only natural that our cards have a voice, considering we ask them to tell us things on the regular... it would be very interesting to see a year in how much their voice has changed/ developed!

These are genius questions and I will definitely be asking my deck these later today. 2. I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels that their deck has their own personality and energy. My deck is very no-nonsense.

Looks like we’re all going to be having lovely chats with our cards yay! Ya no-nonsense is definitely a good description of my cards atm ^-^ They’re HELLA sassy, but they sprinkle in little moments of pure joy along the way! I get dragged to the cleaners often, but only when I need to be haha
gregory Posted December 13, 2018 Posted December 13, 2018 I once asked a deck what kind of a deck it was. It said it was rubbish. It is - and I was impressed that it admitted it - which almost meant it wasn't ! (On AT; The Charmed.)

It’s one of those “If the Pope’s a Catholic in the woods alone, does he really make a sound?” moments! But hey, at least they were honest, even if they were rubbish haha ;D
Oztarot Posted December 13, 2018 Posted December 13, 2018 I asked what sort of tarot deck it was and got the 3 of cups...a friendly one :) I asked what the deck thought of me and I got the 10 of wands...it thinks I carry burdens which is pretty accurate at the moment. When I asked how we fit together I got the 3 of coins...Teamwork to gain mastery! When I asked if we are accurate when working together, I got the page of pentacles....We are practicing, learning and perfecting our act!

Faye Posted December 13, 2018 Author Posted December 13, 2018 I am told that the ants and the bacteria and so on would hear the sound.. :D HAHA!! X-D We’d best notify the Vatican immediately! That’s a fab answer though; I am definitely adopting it, if you have no objections ;)

You are welcome! I loved the answer I got, have to see where I have it written down and add to my journal. I’d love to read that if you manage to find it! I’ll keep my eye out :o Hey Fay Here we go that was my interview: Position 1: Tell me about yourself. What is your most important characteristic? Ace of Cups My deck is full of love, in connection with the Universe. My deck loves to share its love. Position 2: What are your strengths as a deck? 5 of Cups Its strength will be to help you sort out the good from the bad in past events and will help you see the still standing "Cups" in your life so it will always bring you back to hopeful and more cheerful aspects of your life. Position 3: What are your limits as a deck? 14 Temperance The limits of the cards are that they can't make the impossible happen. They can help you but they can't totally decide things for you or make the moves you need to make for yourself. The decisions are always yours. Position 4: What are you here to teach me? 7 of Cups New opportunities but also teach me to not fall for illusions, but better connect with my inner-self. Position 5: How can I best learn and collaborate with you? 3 of Swords This is a puzzling card, it may be telling me that by coming to it with your heartbreaks and disappointments as well as joy and high hopes is the best way I can collaborate with it. Position 6 How do you perceive me? Page of Cups Young and full of dreams, curious and creative. Position 7 What is the potential outcome of our working relationship? 10 of Pentacles Abundance through hard work.
Grandma Posted December 13, 2018 Posted December 13, 2018 Position 5: How can I best learn and collaborate with you? 3 of Swords This is a puzzling card, it may be telling me that by coming to it with your heartbreaks and disappointments as well as joy and high hopes is the best way I can collaborate with it. Joy, I love your deck interview and your reading of what it is telling you. I wonder if in this instance it may also be warning you that not everything it tells you will be happy news.

Sometimes the 3 of Swords is a card of release for me, so maybe it’s also saying that letting go of past conceptions will allow you to better understand each other? Just a thought, I could definitely be wrong ^-^

Jewel Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 I also feel my decks have a personality and a voice. I sometimes do deck interviews (very similar to joy's) but have never asked the decks how they feel about me ... never really thought of that question before . I do not believe your question to be a Tarot no-no, but just another way for you to bond with your deck. Bonding is a good thing. gregory[/member] I remember when you posted that about the charmed. If I recall coffee flew out of my nose and I spewed coffee all over my computer I was laughing so hard.

Haha it is a little ummm... out there... as a question haha  but it’s like you said, bonding is a good thing! I’m glad I haven’t committed a Tarot faux pas, I wasn’t sure if there was an old wives tale along the lines of: if you ask the cards their feelings, a gateway to the underworld would open, and you’d be stuck ironing and folding fitted sheets, or constantly switching queues but never reaching the front, for all eternity....... or something like that..... :o ahem. On an unrelated note I have had 7 cups of coffee today, and should maybe go lie down
