ali3n Posted December 15, 2018 Posted December 15, 2018 hello, i was just wondering if its normal that the borders of my cards look like this? ??? i do regular overhand shuffle i've had this deck for almost a year (its the original rws) and i dont think i use them a lot, just like twice a week..
Oztarot Posted December 15, 2018 Posted December 15, 2018 I am no shuffling expert but if you overhand shuffle you may be forcing the cards down too much, try letting them fall from the overhand to the catching hand rather than pushing them down? Hope this helps! ;)
Raggydoll Posted December 15, 2018 Posted December 15, 2018 Yeah, try not to press too hard and clasp the deck too tight in your hand.
Guest Night Shade Posted December 15, 2018 Posted December 15, 2018 Unfortunately, no matter how you shuffle your cards, they're eventually going to show wear and tear; it's just a fact of Tarot life. The only thing to do is accept it. I used to just keep my decks in a drawer and never use them, because I was afraid of wearing them out, then I finally woke up and realized that if I didn't use them, there was no point in having them in the first place! So now I just deal with the nicks and scrapes, and consider them marks of experience and growth in my reading abilities
HermitWriter Posted December 15, 2018 Posted December 15, 2018 Yeah, it happens. Card stock quality varies, and some are more prone to nicks and burrs than others. There are some videos on YouTube that demonstrate ways to shuffle and still preserve your deck. Honestly, for some it doesn't seem to matter how careful you are.
ali3n Posted December 15, 2018 Author Posted December 15, 2018 thanks for the advice guys! ^-^ i'll try to be more careful and also to just accept the wear, either way, the images are not getting damaged, so i can read in peace O:-)
Grizabella Posted December 21, 2018 Posted December 21, 2018 I always ask people whether they'd rather have a reading done by a reader with an obviously well-used deck or one with a pristine. fresh-out-of-the-box deck. Which reader would you have the most secure feeling with? Give me the well-worn deck any day. It's a sign the cards have been used a lot and the reader is very familiar and comfortable with the deck. I'm kind of upset that I crinkled the corner of one of my cards in the Everyday Enchantment deck. I just got it a few weeks ago and I've been very careful with it. Then something just happened in a careless moment that I don't even remember, and the corner of one card got bent. I don't remember which card it was, but that's on purpose----I don't want to always see the crinkle and think "that's the 1- of whatever" card just because I can see that tiny little crease. I've purposely moved on and just not dwelt on it.
