Rarehare Posted December 15, 2018 Posted December 15, 2018 Does anyone here have experience with the Everyday Tarot Deck and the accompanying book? Is it of good quality? I like the art and interpretations and someday might like adding it to my collection. Thanks!
Guest Freeli Posted December 15, 2018 Posted December 15, 2018 I got both, the Everyday Tarot Deck and the book. The deck is very simplistic and straightforward. On the one hand I like this a lot, I find it very clear there are still enough symbols on the cards but not too many to make me start having to look for them. on the other hand, it does not leave a lot of room for me feeling what's going on in the card there; with the minimalistic symbolism I can't really tell a long story for the cards as I can do with decks with more elaborate art and depictions and scenes. But hey, that's not necessarily a bad thing, it depends all on the situation and what I need from the cards at the time :) Mind you, it is a mini deck, the cards are small. But because there is no detailed imagery, it's no problem. I noticed that on the web pictures the deck appears to have shiney golden guilded edges - that is not the case with the real deck I got. The edges of the card are some kinda bronzey-gold, but not shiney. Also, the card stock is fairly thick, thicker than playing card, so compared to the photo on the website the ration of the card size to the height of the pile is different, the pile is a bit higher. I hope that makes sense. Amazon reviews said the cards are sticky and hard to shuffle - I think the colour of the edging makes them stick a little, but once they've been shuffled for a couple of minutes there is no more problem at all. In fact I think they shuffle very nicely due to the small size and the thick card. The deck comes in a nice box where the nice and thick LWB is nicely fitted into and slides easily in and out. Inside this nice cardboard box there is a plastic tuck box for the cards which is a pain in the posterior to open everytime, I cut off a corner to make it easier and it is no problem now (a lot of amazon reviews commented on that). I started using the book, and it is not too bad. I'm still kinda of a beginner in my eyes. There are a lot of different chapters about e.g. your work life, your love life, your life goals and so on with nice spreads that might be helpful. I'm still at the beginning of the book tho, so I can't really say too much. In general: I do like Biddy, I like her card interpretations a lot and I like her podcast, at least some of the episodes. The only thing I don't like is that there are a lot of emails trying to make me give her more money. As soon as you subscribe to something on her website, some free info material usually, you get pretty much daily emails asking you to buy this, sign up for that course, get that certificate, join her community and so on. it is easy to unsubscribe from the emails, but still. attaching a few photos of the deck.
Rarehare Posted December 15, 2018 Author Posted December 15, 2018 It looks like a nice deck to have as a backup, but maybe not for in depth reading. Thank you, Freeli. For the price, it might be worth picking up anyway, esp. to go with the Ultimate Gd to Tarot Interpretations (I think it’s called). Btw...what a long little finger you have! Are you a writer or professional communicator in some way?
Guest Freeli Posted December 17, 2018 Posted December 17, 2018 let me know if you would like more pictures :) Btw...what a long little finger you have! Are you a writer or professional communicator in some way? haha no, and unfortunately not a piano player either, I just have bony hands, it must be an illusion.
Petalene Posted December 20, 2018 Posted December 20, 2018 I have it and like it, but I find a few things odd. The lovers card bothers me. It looks like his crotch is on fire. I get that they leafed it, but it doesn’t look like a leaf to me. There’s always one card I’m not fond of in a deck, no matter how much I like most of the cards. And there’s some sort of shading on the back that makes the cards look faded and it prevents the backs from being reversible. The box is terrible and I tossed it, although I usually knit or crochet a bag for my decks so that’s not a big deal for me. The size is great, I love mini things. The minimalistic art works better for me than a crowded image. I like the RWS system, but not the art, so this deck is a good middle ground. I haven’t used it much yet, but I’ve enjoyed it so far. I started the book and haven’t finsished it yet. Other things have been a priority.
