Do you have the same opinion like me?

I think its better sometimes not ask about some things in future and just lets see what happened because very often some things happen but differently than you expect or nothing happen because you expect it.

Interesting comment, JohnLetter.

There have been, and I'm sure will always be, discussions about whether Tarot even can tell us the future.  Whether we should ask it to is another very good question.

Personally, I use Tarot to help me understand what I hope will happen, how to help it happen, and how to accept whatever does happen.

Tarot is not limited for only divination uses.

There are many things someone can use Tarot for. And not all uses require spreads.

For example you can use Tarot to help you reach your higher self.

I was always taught that divination shows probabilities, but we have free will and the ability to change most outcomes.

I think that you should only ask about the future if you really want to know the answer.  Sometimes it's better to not know and just keep the faith, than to know what's coming and live in dread.

Rarehare[/member] I love this.  I hadn't realized until I read it that I feel this way too.  Thank you.

I agree...the future is mostly fluid; tarot can show us likely path; but I think it is better to focus on what you want (law of attraction) and ask for the best possible outcomes because reading for it and having the cards show you outcome on current path imo makes it more likely to happen when you could manifest something even better! I don't know if that sounds crazy but yeah..something I've started to realize along the way. Outcomes shift in readings when I very strongly shift my actions intentions and attitude.

the answers we receive from the tarot come from within us. In a very real way we already knew the answer we have dealt and read, it was just a little murmur of a thought though. the tarot brings it up to a level we can plainly read.

I personally really hate to read for the future, i just didn't want to know what is gonna happen. i realized after some years of this, just lately to be honest, my not reading about the future is equivalent to not wanting to answer the phone or get the mail...i would rather not see the bills or the next dentist appointment.....

so rather than asking how my day is going to be tomorrow, i may ask what will it be like tomorrow. the first way is almost fatalistic,"this is what will happen," the second way is more like getting a weather report, which allows me to be prepared.

I love you are saying your opinions about it :)

Sometimes to know the future is very helpful for making decisions, what will happen if I do this or do this? It can help you if you feel anxious or been in a bad place to know some better things are coming (however doing a tarot reading can also make you more anxious or feel worse if there is no good news yet). But of course is it just possibilities. I find it really helpful in my life and also to be forewarned about what is coming up.

But you have to becareful about what you are asking about, do you really want to know the answer or this possible future and also can you handle the reading, even if it is not positive? I always ask myself those two questions before reading like this  :)

I view it more from the quantum perspective:  There are infinite futures, and a tarot reading can suggest possibilities, if certain conditions are met. But the future is always up to us, and it is our choices which create  our futures.  When people ask me to tell them their future, I always reply that I cannot,  because their future belongs to them, and I don't have the right to take it away from them. I tell them I won't tell their future, but I can try to give them a good handle on what's going on  today, and that the cards will suggest options.

I see a reading as a snapshot of what the energies around us are doing at any given point in time, and this  will always change.  There is always the possible, even the probable, but every random decision we make will influence what comes after.

Readings also reflect feelings, and many times  they illustrate how the querent feels about the life conditions represented by the cards in their spread.

DarkElectric[/member]  Yes, exactly!  This is exactly what you did for me in the Grandpa thread, isn't it?  And it could not have been more valuable.  This is Tarot at its best!

Yes. I'd like to add that I use it also to explore the field of possibilities.

Dear me, how did I leave that one out?  It's arguably the most important one and was the basis of the "what will happen if I go/don't go" component of the whole Grandpa thread.

Shivani, if you weren't six years younger than me (I checked your profile) I would wonder if we were twins separated at birth

btw- I remembered now, yes I mean in the most the point of mine opinion that if is right to ask some questions about the future or other things about someone who doesnt know you are asking? Thats why I stopped to ask about the future and opinions/feelings about me from someone else.

Asking questions for people who don't know you're asking is probably a bad idea.  It's really prying into their private lives.  If you're really concerned that they're in danger, or going down the wrong path it might be okay, but I think it's better to get their permission first.

Absolutely.  And if you don't know them well enough to ask them, then you don't know them well enough to read their minds.  So the whole "how does he feel about me" type of reading, without a good solid understanding already of how he feels about you, is pretty much a parlor game in my opinion.

For example, it would be okay with Grandpa if I asked this kind of question about him - how does he feel in a specific situation - and the answer would be pretty accurate because I know how he feels about everything in general.  Still, I wouldn't do it.  I would ask Grandpa if HE wanted a reading to help HIM clarify how he felt.

If not twins, kindred spirits, Grandma? [emoji4] In light of what you said elsewhere about distance and computers, wouldn't that be really quite extraordinary?

I have to concur with Night Shade[/member], and emphatically add get that person's permission first.
