Questions comparing the Moon and Death cards

I’ve been looking at the Moon and Death cards and I have several questions.  The Death card shows the same towers and body of water as does the Moon, only instead of a Moon, a sun basks behind the towers.  It’s said that the boat on the river is the ferryman of the dead, which would make the river the Styx.  What does that say about the river if water represents intuition?  Does the Moon card not only represent the suspended time between awake and asleep, but also the suspended time between death and new life?  Is it life beyond the veil and if so, does that mean that intuition comes from there, too, as well as out journey to higher consciousness begins there, too? Is there a parallel between the pale horse death rides and the pale horse ridden by the child in the Sun card?  Achielles was dipped in the river Styx to become impervious to death, all except for his ankle on one leg.  What other magic does the water hold besides intuition?

Well, those are just the beginning questions, I’m sure more will turn up, but I’d definitely appreciate your feedback on the symbolism between these cards.

Thanks so much!

Just for reference, which deck are you looking at in particular?

The Death card is transformation that’s why in my opinion the sun rises behind the towers. The Moon is about secrets, intuition, mentality, mystery. The water, yin energy could represent the unknown, the mystery, of where the dead go. Intuition comes from our higher self and from the connection to the unseen. It’s the subconscious. The towers can represent gateway. You can find the two towers represented as pillars in High Priestess, in Nine of Pentacles represented as trees.

The Sun’s horse is the same one as Death’s horse. Horses represent movement, direction, progress. The color white represents purity, innocence, cleansing, peace. We can also connect the purity and innocence with a child (the Sun) and the peace and cleansing with the Death card. It’s the same horse to remind us that Death/end/transformation is the other side of Life/Sun/beginning.

This is Fool’s journey so I do believe cards connect with each other so much.

It’s amazing how a tarot reader can connect to art by examining every symbol in the cards.

Much love & light  ((
