Whisper Posted December 28, 2018 Author Posted December 28, 2018 I’ve always used Method 1 in the past. I get: Method 1: Strength/Justice Method 2: Chariot Method 3: Tower The past year has not felt much like a Chariot year - not really forged ahead with much but perhaps I’ve been working the shadow side and not been in control of the horses! Strength as a year card could be a challenge and I definitely could do without the Tower! No one needs the Tower. [emoji4] Unless, of course, a real change is needed and the only way the universe has to bring it about is through upheaval. That's happened a lot in my life. When I think back, I believe that the major changes in my life came that way - completely out of left field, slamming me hard. As to the Chariot and the shadow side, when I think of the very traditional depiction of the card with the white and black sphinxes, I'm inclined to think that the driver of the Chariot has somehow managed to control and rein in opposing aspects of his personality and can let the sphinxes (horses) loose. Would this make sense regarding your past year, Flaxen? Curious: why do you say that the Strength (Justice) card could be a challenge as a year card? It's come up for me and I've been wondering about its message.
Whisper Posted December 28, 2018 Author Posted December 28, 2018 Shivani - I think going with The Lovers, definitely. I so want to find my soulmate this 2019! [emoji177] Reversed three of swords?? https://r.tapatalk.com/shareLink?share_fid=1945662&share_tid=5275&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww%2Ethetarotforum%2Ecom%2Findex%2Ephp%3Ftopic%3D5275&share_type=t Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Notchdrop, for this, I would use only the Majors. Does your math add up to The Lovers?
Bookworm Posted December 28, 2018 Posted December 28, 2018 Mine come up as: 1. The Wheel 2. The Hermit 3. The Moon But, like Raven, my Sacred Days reading has made me realize that I need something else at the moment, and for me that is The Sun -- literally and figuratively.

Whisper Posted December 28, 2018 Author Posted December 28, 2018 Bookworm's last post has me thinking that we should leave the methods behind and should be asking a different question: What is the Tarot Year Card that your intuition is picking for your new year?
RavenOfSummer Posted December 29, 2018 Posted December 29, 2018 This is such a wonderful discussion! Really enjoying this discussion! The cards I get are Method 1: The Lovers; Method 2: The Hierophant; Method 3: The Devil. However...I am feeling really drawn to work deeply with The Empress this year. And, she is the only major I've drawn so far this year for my Sacred Days of Yule journey! Though there is still time to draw more. But I think I am going to choose to work with her this year. Which is not to say that the lessons of these three cards will not be important to my year as well...in fact, I can already see how all three are needed at this point in time. And I certainly see the value of working through each major as you journey through each year! [emoji4] I find that a very interesting point, my dear. Given the arithmetical artificial construct, I would say that going with one's intuition is, in the case of guiding cards, the significant thing to do. Don't ask me why or how - I attribute it to the connection I think we have across the ether -, but I can see how The Empress is an excellent choice for you this year. I am really not able to explain why, but I feel it is absolutely right, somehow. I'm curious... and if you don't mind my asking when you say "work with her this year", what do you mean? What does that look like exactly? Also, why do you say "how all three are needed at this point in time"? I hope I'm not being too personal. I am really interested in how people use Tarot and Oracle cards beyond reading for themselves and others through spreads or intuitively. I'm so glad you're feeling this energy for me too right now <3 That feels like confirmation that I am on the right path <3 I am still forming ideas about how I will work with The Empress this coming year, and will think about it more over the next couple of days, some ideas I've been thinking about so far: - Keeping a version of The Empress on my altar throughout the year. I would probably rotate different Empresses from different decks as the year goes on. If she is on my altar that works to build my relationship with her and remind me to incorporate her energy every time I see her. - Doing a regular journaling exercise on how I am relating to the Empress and how her energy is manifesting in my life. I'd have to figure out how often this would be...weekly? Monthly? Maybe a quick weekly check-in and a longer reflection each month. - Setting intentions related to The Empress when I come to my yoga practice - Taking walks with the intention of reflecting on the abundance of nature in all her cycles - Choosing different representations of the divine feminine to work with throughout the year. I have been planning to do some work with Brighid starting in January ahead of Imbolc, so she would be my first goddess. Those are just some ideas I've come up with so far- I will share more as I continue to think about it! In relation to the other three cards, I can see how relevant they are to my life right now in different ways. For The Lovers, I see that as being present in the blossoming of my relationship with my husband, and that seems like the natural outgrowth of focusing on my own Empress energy. For the Hierophant, I think he is reflective of needing some additional structure and order in my life. Pacificwaters actually gave me a reading related to this need in ISG this month, and its something I really see as needed in the new year. And I think The Devil is what takes me away from these things- away from presence, away from focus, away from being in my own power. Grandma gave me a very profound and in depth reading a couple of months ago that gave me new insight on the Devil in my life, and I feel I have been more aware of how the Devil's influence manifests for me since then. I think I need to keep this awareness in order to really stay true to myself, my own growth and intentions. Mine come up as: 1. The Wheel 2. The Hermit 3. The Moon But, like Raven, my Sacred Days reading has made me realize that I need something else at the moment, and for me that is The Sun -- literally and figuratively. That is lovely, Bookworm  I'm glad we're both having this experience with the Sacred Days, that it is bringing forth what we need  Bookworm's last post has me thinking that we should leave the methods behind and should be asking a different question: What is the Tarot Year Card that your intuition is picking for your new year? I like this question! Although I like the mathematical method too- maybe we need both, or either, depending on where we are.
joy Posted December 29, 2018 Posted December 29, 2018 That is interesting! Method 1 = 11 Justice Method 2 = 10 The Wheel Method 3 = 19 The Sun Not sure which one I like the best yet.... :bugeyed:  I look forward to seeing which one you choose, joy! <3 Going with Method 2 - The Wheel. As my last birthday was this year I think that is where my 'earthly' journey started. So will use '2018' and not '2019'. Guess at my next birthday it will then be Justice :-)
joy Posted December 29, 2018 Posted December 29, 2018 Shivani[/member] Justice as the annual card can mean that you are going to be very judgemental with yourself. So try not to be too hard with yourself. I think we can have whatever we want, an intuitive card, a specific card, a card we calculated by any method. I guess it is possible some of the cards might have more influence than others throughout the whole year. And it might be the same card influencing us for a full year. But as we have free will and if we learn and progress everything might/is changing anyway.

I really do like the different ways you are approaching this energy in your life. If you don't mind, dear Raven, I will borrow some of your ideas and see how I may be able to adapt them for my (arithmetical) card: from the Tabula Mundi: Adjustment. Don't ask me why I had the hairbrained idea to do this with a deck I just got and don't really know (maybe because of that?), but I did. Now, supposedly, 8 is traditionally either Justice or Strength, so this complicates matters even more. What I do know is that at this juncture in my life, I have been questioning the fairness of things a lot. In fact, I could say that I've been questioning everything a lot. I think I'm a) going to try the other methods to see what comes up in terms of other cards and, also, really consider what my intuition tells me should be this coming year's card for me. The challenge, for me now, is to not let myself be influenced by what I drew already and see if another card presents itself as more pertinent. Going to have to dedicate a little meditation to this.

I had been vaguely musing over doing something, but it's the discussion and ideas you shared here that really got me to think through what I wanted to do and commit to this deeper working <3 I think picking the deck to work with is part of the intuitive choosing too! I think if you feel drawn to work with a new deck you should go for it ^-^ I can see how Justice could potentially be a powerful card for you to work with this year, given what you are facing. I wonder too if it could be a difficult card to work with for the same reason. Not in any way trying to discourage you from working with a certain card! Just saying I think it is good to consider all the options and allow your intuition to guide you as to what is best for you right now, as you are doing. No matter what you decide, we will all be supporting each other through the journey, and that is a beautiful thing <3

Asher Posted December 30, 2018 Posted December 30, 2018 2019 will be a Temperance year for me, with a focus on balance. Very appropriate, since I had a nasty fall at work this year, requiring 6 weeks off to heal. Couldn’t drive,so had to rely on others to get to therapy & doctor visits. No surgery necessary thank goodness, so once my cast came off, I got more of my independence back. Back at work, almost as good as new now! So my focus in the new year will literally be focusing on my balance. Also finding a better balance in my home life, making time for Tarot and other spiritual pursuits that languished this year. I love the Temperance card, so it will be a great focus card for me!
Arch Posted December 31, 2018 Posted December 31, 2018 Might as well take some time out to participate outside of my journal, since I've been very effective today. I went for method 1. My card for 2019 is then.. The Lovers: Hmm a year of love and attachment to others it seems, that might be interesting. Given that I've kept my heart guarded for quite long. Not letting anyone new in, and ejecting quite a few the last couple of years. Hopefully this means that things will look up and work out better in this department than has historically been the case. I think it probably helps a lot that my journal project has been a half a year long self healing exercise. So I'm not quite as broken and full of pain and anguish that I used to be. When I came in here I was really the Ten of swords personified.

DanielJUK Posted January 2, 2019 Posted January 2, 2019 I have a database of all my tarot years in my digital notes, I used the third method and added each individual number and I start a new year on my birthday. I have gone Tower, Star, currently Moon and moving to Sun in my birthday in May. It does reflect my life. I have tried to put what happened in each year with the cards and it's been fascinating! If I use the first method I get 10 and the Wheel of Fortune for 2019. I will see at the end of 2019 which card fitted as a theme the best :)

Rose lovingly interpreted my whole, very simplistic interview with my TB, so I feel really guilty regarding how I feel about it, now. I wrote, in my journal today, about this deck after my first foray with and a dream I had last night. I feel terrible saying this, but it looks as though the Tabula Mundi is not for me. At least not at this stage in my life. I feel badly, because I know that Rose has such a deep understanding of, and connection with it.

I think it's wonderful that the Lovers showed up for you this year. Hopefully, it will be a year of reconnection for you; reconnection with others and the understanding that we are all one. [emoji4] My personality card (my life purpose, aspirations and lessons to be learned) is the 6, hence The Lovers, so I understand what you are dealing with this year. Mary K, Greer, in her book Tarot for Your Self has for us who are dealing with the Lovers the following questions to ponder: What significant relationship are you involved in? (Doesn't have to be romantic in nature). What choice or decision do you need to make? What needs to be combined, synthesized, or brought together?
