chongjasmine Posted January 5, 2019 Posted January 5, 2019 Do you let other people use your decks? I generally don't.
Raggydoll Posted January 5, 2019 Posted January 5, 2019 This has been discussed previously :) https://www.thetarotforum.com/talking-tarot/letting-others-touch-your-cards/ As of right now, I let certain people touch certain decks at certain times ;)
Iekthecat Posted January 22, 2019 Posted January 22, 2019 I never do. I dont like people touching my stuff anyway hahah but especially my cards!
Arch Posted January 22, 2019 Posted January 22, 2019 The old Rider Waite sure, the new one (Modern Spellcasters) I don't even let other people see.
hierophant Posted January 22, 2019 Posted January 22, 2019 No. People can see my deck, but they cannot touch it :)
Wanderer Posted January 22, 2019 Posted January 22, 2019 I don't generally have a problem with it. It's kind-of like animals; other people can stroke them, but they still know who their pet human is!
stellar4 Posted January 22, 2019 Posted January 22, 2019 It depends on which deck it is and which person! I have no problem allowing a sitter to handle an el cheapo copy of the RWS that belongs to me, but my more precious decks only come out for the more card savvy guests. I'm ok with my daughter handling any of my decks because she understands that I really value and love them and isnt going to do anything stupid like have drinks near them, shuffle them roughly etc. There is one very careful friend that I would allow to take any deck she pleased from my house and borrow it for a month or two, just because she would look after it as well as she looks after her own. I am happy to share but only with those who are respectful of other's things.
Raven Posted February 4, 2019 Posted February 4, 2019 Yes and No I have a deck I let others touch all the time, RWS I have witnessed people damage some of my decks due to their shuffling habits or inability of how to shuffle. I have a simple rule, you can look but no shuffling Only certain previously damaged decks can be shuffled by others.
MysticMoonlight Posted February 4, 2019 Posted February 4, 2019 Nope. I have a thing about people touching my stuff. :o Generally, I don't touch other people's things and I suppose I just expect the same.
AJ-ish/Sharyn Posted February 4, 2019 Posted February 4, 2019 I'd dearly love to find someone in the real world to share tarot with. But I would ask them to not shuffle the cards. Even for people who play poker or rummy every day, our decks are larger with more cards, they'd have to learn how to add dents and bends on their own deck...
gregory Posted February 4, 2019 Posted February 4, 2019 ONE person I know, thus far. (Would be two, but the chances of the other being close enough to be able to use them are remote.) Card-savvy guests can look, under supervision !
bookshop Posted February 7, 2019 Posted February 7, 2019 When I do readings for people I prefer for them to shuffle the cards themselves while thinking about their lives / their problems, ahaha, but I have had to emergency-instruct some of them on how shuffling works!
TheLittleJackal Posted February 7, 2019 Posted February 7, 2019 Use, no. Handle, sure. I can shuffle away handling energy no problem. I feel like people actually using my decks would soak into the cards more. Nothing I couldn't undo, but why should I have to, y'know?
Thoughtful Posted February 10, 2019 Posted February 10, 2019 l prefer not to let others touch my working decks, not even a sitter. l do the shuffling myself, has not made any difference to the readings. People can look but not touch :)) Any decks l do not use others are welcome to peruse, l don't mind.
