chongjasmine Posted January 6, 2019 Posted January 6, 2019 For me, I like to use the 3 cards spread. I find that easy. Sometimes, though, I use the celtic cross.
Raggydoll Posted January 6, 2019 Posted January 6, 2019 I don’t always use spreads but when I do, I tend to use different spreads for each reading. I rarely use the same spread repeatedly unless it’s something truly basic like past/present/future. I tend to design my own spreads so that they work with the specific circumstances and deliver exactly what I’m looking for. I find it too time consuming to search for pre-made spreads that fit certain topics, it’s more quicker to make one up. Though sometimes I write a spread down if I see something that looks interesting. It can be fun to try new things that others have come up with
Intense Tarot Posted January 8, 2019 Posted January 8, 2019 I currently only give 1 card readings for clients but I love trying different spreads for personal readings like zodiac & chakra spreads.
KatieKeene Posted January 8, 2019 Posted January 8, 2019 I almost always just use a 3-card draw (or 5 if I want more in-depth information, for some reason I always stick to odd numbers), drawing an extra if I need clarification. It's simple and straightforward. I tend to view the reading as a "story" of sorts, and it's always been pretty accurate for me. I only do readings for myself and close friends/family though, so I'd probably have a larger repertoire if I was doing readings professionally.
Grizabella Posted January 15, 2019 Posted January 15, 2019 I use a basic 7-card spread that I've just developed over the early years. It's comfy, effective, and expandable if need be. I use specific questions and usually make spreads with it similar to 3-card readings. For instance, past present and future---2 cards for each position with one position having 3 cards if it's the one the sitter is interested most in. I also draw extra cards but never use clarifiers. I read the extra cards as added information. That might seem like the same thing as a clarifier but it's not. My experience with the cards has shown me that there's no such thing (for me, anyway) as the cards saying the same thing but differently. Cards for added information are like "tell me more" about whatever the cards have said on any position.
AJ-ish/Sharyn Posted January 15, 2019 Posted January 15, 2019 I like spreads rather than just throwing out cards, for me it is the difference between a paved road and a rocky field. My comfort zone. This year I am doing a reading for myself every moon phase. that is four and sometimes five a month! I've sometimes gone years not reading for myself as my life is pretty mundane. I'm thinking to look up some two card draws and maybe do a rock paper scissors for full moons... we are building a nice spread library here, but I will probably go over to AT's library http://www.tarotforum.net/showthread.php?t=203788 for a selection of 2 carders.
Wanderer Posted January 15, 2019 Posted January 15, 2019 I have a few standard spreads ranging from three to ten cards, but mostly I create bespoke ones for whatever the question is. Usually I find the question doesn't quite fit an off-the-shelf template.
Iekthecat Posted January 22, 2019 Posted January 22, 2019 Mostly 3 cards for a specific question, 3 + 3 for pro-con and sometimes a 6/7 card spread or Celtics cross for relationship/a person in general.
