Welcome, Twilightlo and you've come to a wonderful place to learn all about the things you mentioned above!  What crystals do you have currently that you work with?  I'm a lover of crystals myself, (as well as tarot) and learning more and more about the various crystals and how to use them.  Do you have a favorite tarot deck?

Hi Luna....I have collected a few but my favorites are rose quartz, amethyst, opalite, moonstone, and smoky quartz. I usually use them if I feel anxiety coming on or feeling a bit low/having self doubt. I also use them to surround any candles I've lit for an intention, place them near me in a nice herbal bath, and I store my tarot deck with amethyst and obsidian to ward off negative energy and increase intuition. I've only ever used the RWS but I am curious about purchasing another one - I just haven't yet found a deck that I am completely in love with. What about you? What crystals do you like and how do you use them?

Hey that's cool....what do you collect that is a rock but not a crystal? Have you ever seen that show Breaking Bad? Lol there is a character there, Hank, who begins to collect minerals but his wife calls them rocks and he keeps getting offended haha.

oh you do have a nice little collection there!  I LOVE rose quartz and amethysts-and have a few of those--some beautifully polished and a few raw ones too.  I have moonstone and smoky quartz too and jet, pietersite, moldavite, super seven crystals, blue celestite, (which is divine!), jade, ruby, emeralds, (not just my jewelry--but some of these in raw form), malachites, lots of quartz, lapis lazuli, tiger eye, red agate, obsidian, - one of my faves is a snowflake obsidian, and many more.  I've been collecting for a very long time now.

I use them for chakra healing, for grids when I am trying to draw things towards me--for various things.  Protection, meditation and for just helping me to remain calm and happy (that rose quartz!) I always have a rose quartz crystal in my pocket and a small citrine in my wallet.

As for tarot...I have way too many to even begin to mention here, as I have over 100 decks.  I also have a lot of oracle cards and lenormands too, and I collect playing cards, so have many of them too.  Some from all over the world.  I have always loved cards and come from a long line of card players and readers.  So, it must be in the blood.

RWS is what most people start with and I was no different.  There are many RWS clones out there, to which are great and may appeal to you as they come in so many themes, colors, and such.  I've found that its best to find a deck that you like the artwork in as that is the one you'll be able to read best.

At any rate, if you stay interested in tarot and card reading, and hang around here more, I'm sure your collection will begin to grow very steadily too!  I've been at this now for over 20-25 years, so a huge head start on it compared to most.

Oh wow....nice collection!...I've been curious about grids..how do you know how to lay them out? I've seen people sharing pics of grids in media but my struggle is to find what design I can use and also having  enough duplicates of the same crystal to make a grid.

Haha and yes I'm sure I will end up with other decks...but still exploring. 😎

To make a grid is easy, as long as you have a specific goal in mind and you have a spot you can put your grid.  The grid can be small with say only 5 crystals and they do not really need to be all the same.  In fact, varying crystals may be better, so to draw different energies together to help you manifest your desire.

I always put my grid on a plate as I will leave the grid up for days.  I think you need to leave it up for at least 2 or 3 days to be able to get your desire.  Once the goal has been achieved, then you can offer up thanks to the crystals in the grid, and take the grid down again.  Be sure to also cleanse the crystals when you do take it apart--which can also be done very easily and simply.

I also will write my intention down on a slip of paper and keep it on the plate or sometimes under the plate.  I will have a center stone that I deem the *main* crystal and will hold this stone before placing it on the center of the plate and tell it what I am needing or wanting.  Then I make a design with the other crystals I've carefully chosen, (make sure the crystals have the needed properties and can give the right energy for your goal to come to you) around the first stone.

You can make pretty mcuh any kind of a design really.  I've made cross grids - where I had the main crystal in the middle and then arranged the others for a cross shaped grid or you can (and I've made these too) make a wheel with spokes coming out.  The designs you can make with tehm are endless really and you can use all the same crystal or many various crystals as long as there is one specific MAIN crystal.

Google "How To make crystal grids" and you'll find tons of information on them.  Here is one that I just googled to add here that looks rather informative.

now, the pictures she has shows her using a LOT of crystals!  I started out with just a few--so don't let the pictures here make you think you must have a lot of crystals to do this.  You can also find templates for making a grid such as here:

https://www.entertheearth.net/free-grid-template/

but, I just tend to make up my own grids.  I leave mine up until the intention has come to be and then I give a prayer of gratitude and thanks and clean the crystals again and re-charge them for another time when I take it down.  The grid will need to stay up for at least 2 or 3 days if not longer.  I have also done the grid on a plate that I put in the center of the dining room table.  Then, whenever I sit down for a meal, I will again thank the crystals for their help in giving me what I need till the day it has answered my intention, then give it thanks.  They are really pretty having them set out and while company will just think its a nice centerpiece - it really is nice to look at.  :)

Have fun with it.  Make sure you also look up the properties of the crystals you intend to use to make sure it is the right crystal for your intention.  And, as in everything - make sure it does no harm to anyone in the process.

WOW! Luna[/member] thank you so much for your detailed advice!! I am excited to try this. Sometimes I forget which crystal is which haha so I will have to do some inventory and re identify them and then see which have corresponding energies.

Thanks so much!!
