How many readings in one day? How often reading?

Hi. Just wondering how many readings can you do in a day? Is it Ok to do a couple readings per day? Able to use different decks depending on the reading?

I'm looking for daily/monthly spread ideas.

Thanks

When I hosted FB events I've done as many as 7 readings in 2 hours and that includes posting a pic of the cards. But professionally I might do 2 a day if I have 4 readings lined up.  I'll do one long one and one short one.  If they are long ones I only do 1 a day.  My Past Life- Celtic Cross combo takes around 10 hours from start to finish.  I always use different decks.  I never use a deck more than once in a day for readings.  I also don't read for myself.

what type of questions are you reading on?

Is it practice?

For others?

Self?

There are many different ways to approach "reading" :)

Fill us in a bit. Up until recently I had a wall of mystery books. For years when I'd start one I'd do:

setting

body gender

where the body was found

who did it

why.

all in a note in the back of the book.

reading for others? Takes a lot of mental energy, you know what your reserves are.

Getting in practice to read face to face? Real out loud to a pet or stuffed animal. Reading aloud is totally different from to yourself.

Whatcha wanting to do?

I think it depends on how experienced you are as a reader.  I'm not very experienced at all, so two readings in one day turned out to be too much for me.  But if you're more experienced, I think you can get more in.  Just be sure to put your readings aside for awhile if you get tired or confused.

It's more for myself for self development, spiritual work.

I also like reading occasionally for family and friends. Still very much getting into the groove of being able to do readings.

For yourself ? I'd say one. You need to give them time for you to actually meditate on them and take any necessary action. There's no point reading and reading when it changes nothing.

For others - as many as you can do without burning yourself out. You'll know when you can't take it any more.

When I was first starting out, I would try to read for myself once in the morning (what should I be aware of today?) and once at night (what can I learn from today?). That way I got practice in, but also wasn't just throwing the cards willy-nilly (spoiler: sometimes I just threw the cards willy-nilly anyway. No one's perfect). Sometimes I wouldn't even really "read" per se; I'd just look at the cards to get a sense for how they flowed together, how they felt, and how I felt about them. Currently I read for myself every few days, when I have time to sit down and write out my thoughts on the reading.

Reading for others is a whole different kettle of fish. Depending on the vibes, it can be invigorating or exhausting. With groups of friends or at writers conferences, I usually ended up being tired but happy. I didn't really keep count of how many readings I was doing, but they were usually short, 5-7 card horseshoe spreads or similar. Reading at a small party for people I didn't know - or at least didn't share any common bond with such as writing - was different. I didn't do a lot of readings, but they took a lot out of me. For something like that, I would recommend practicing Reiki on yourself, or having some other way of grounding and shielding yourself, to avoid feeling drained and wrung out.

Depends on the reading. If it's a long one for somebody else, then yes - one per day is the max. It might only take four hours to do, but it's draining. On the other hand, if I'm exploring an issue I can sometimes try a light three-card reading that brings up some other aspects, and I then do some other readings to develop those ideas. It depends on how I'm feeling, how clearly the message is coming across (i.e. whether I need to work for it!), and whether I need to write up notes on the readings (which is usually the time-consuming bit, partly because I find that the full revelations happen as I'm working it into an interpretation).

I don't know how people do several medium-sized and potentially challenging readings in a few hours at fairs; I've never tried it, though, so perhaps it's possible to switch into a different mindset and get into the flow of it more in those circumstances..? Would be interested to know how that works!

I find this question interesting because of the similar answers of readers feeling drained after a reading, and meditating on it. I feel the same drain after a reading and I thought I was alone in that.

One a day....or every other day....Time in between is nice. <3

When I first started reading for others, it was extremely draining and tiring but that was more what I was doing to myself than anything with the cards, being afraid of being wrong. I've read for others professionally now for most of the years I've used the cards and I don't find it so tiring and draining now.

Now that the holidays are over, I'm starting my business back up to read professionally and sell the things I make, so I'm eager to get busy doing that. I'd say that at most, I'll probably do no more than three a day because it does take energy output and I like to work on other things during the day and evening, too.

I would try to read for myself once in a day but i am not so good lol objective for myself so i prefer to read for other people

Usually i read for small part of people at least six or seven persons per day because then i am losing my energy amd my mind is not so clear to do more...
