So I know some people use tarot to look into the future, but I was wondering if any of you used it to clarify the past, and clear up the details of things you can't quite remember anymore.

Yes! Tarot works great for those kind of things, in my opinion. There are specific spreads tailored at exploring the past but you can of course also design your own (that’s what I tend to do, so that it feels relevant and fulfills ones needs and wants as much as possible). But if you prefer a ready-made spread then I know Mary Greer had one in her book on court cards. Her spread focuses one a persons childhood/upbringing.

Iv'e used Tarot for looking at the past...example-When my Mom passed away..

Again they were super accurate...

Here are some of my own suggestions on topics/questions you may want to work with. (You can choose only one or two, you do not need to do them all!) Make sure you always go with what resonates with you and tweak things so they suit you! Good luck

- What do I need to know about my past?

- What event/person from my past has had a significant impact on me, even as an adult?

- What parts of my past am I ready to process now?

- What past event am I not perceiving clearly/correctly? (You can pull more cards with the aim to help you see this event from another angle)

- What part(s) of my past is better left alone, at this time? (What am I not ready to start exploring/processing)

- What am I not giving myself enough credit for? (Ways in which I am a survivor and has grown due to my past)

- Ways in which my past experiences can strengthen or aid me in the present?

These are all genius, I'm going to have to try them.

I used it recently to determine if something important I said when I was, like, ten, was a lie or not. (I can't remember). I didn't assign positions to the cards, but it was really insightful. I'm interested tosee what happens with a spread, or assigned card positions.

Honestly, I have a really REALLY terrible memory, and this really bad thing about my memory where it'll only be available through the lens of whatever I'm feeling at the current moment.  So, yes, I use tarot ALL the time for looking into the past.  I trust my cards to give me reminders that are truthful and uncolored.  It's a way that I can trigger my memory when I need to, and can see the truth where I may unconsciously warp it.
