Shade Posted March 6, 2019 Posted March 6, 2019 Hello, I am not sure the thread is at its correct place, please move if necessary... I am Coach and use tarot in my work if the clients are ok with the images. As I like the work with parts of personalities I found a way to use my cards in inner family constellations. In that case, I do not use spreads and lie the cards down, but use them upright, standing. The client might put them the way he likes, some facing each other, some turning away from another, or some looking in the same direction. I found out that the effect is a completely different one from cards lying on the table. This way the persons on the cards may 'communicate' with each other. I can ask the client what he thinks one person tells another, what one person wants to know from the one on another card. I have by now one special spread, where I use this technique. Maybe this gives some of you a further idea how to use the cards. And if you have any questions, I will try to explain further. Greetings Shade
Guest libra Posted March 7, 2019 Posted March 7, 2019 This is a really cool way to use the cards! I think the book Tarot at a Crossroads recommends a method similar to that, you might find the book interesting since you already work with the cards in that way!
Shade Posted March 7, 2019 Author Posted March 7, 2019 Thank you so much. I have never heard of that book and will certainly look it up. :)
moonglow Posted March 8, 2019 Posted March 8, 2019 This is a really cool way to use the cards! I think the book Tarot at a Crossroads recommends a method similar to that, you might find the book interesting since you already work with the cards in that way! It does! It starts on page 128: The "Family Constellation Spread" to Illuminate Family Dynamics. They are consciously chosen cards (as are most of the exercises in the book), but they do lay them flat on the table. This allows the cards to not just be upright or reversed, but angled, "to reflect the unique character of a person's relationship with another person, or all the others". Some examples given of this are: "If a card is placed upside down, it indicates that some aspect of the relationship it represents needs to be set straight. If someone is dead, the corresponding card is turned face down." If you're open to it, I'd be interested in seeing a photo of how you work with them standing up!
Shade Posted March 9, 2019 Author Posted March 9, 2019 Hello, Let me try to give you an example of how I am working with tarot constellations... A friend of mine allowed me to use her constellation. Her issue was, that she tried to control things in her life that could not be controlled, and during our conversation, it became clear two inner parts were in conflict. The controlling part and the one who was afraid to be left behind. I always give people the choice if they want to consciously choose the cards or to pick them without seeing the cards. She choose not to see what she picked to ensure she might get information she did not think of yet. She picked two cards, one for each of the parts, and a third one of a part that might help her sorting the conflict out. The picture shows the 3 parts (amazing she picked them unconsciously) The controller: Knight of pentacles The one afraid to be left behind: 4 of cups The Helper: Page of cups She explained how she saw the cards: The controller: Yes the one trying to survey everything, even the 'land' (situation) itself The afraid one: Staring at empty cups and maybe not seeing that somebody is trying to give me a full one The Helper: He enjoys what he has... and I have a lot I can enjoy In the conversation, the helper told the controller to get off his high horse, go into a bar and have a beer. He told the Afraid one to broaden his view and not stare at the problems. She even started laughing, having the idea that the moment she got into this brooding mood, to stop herself simply having a drink... even if it was only water, as a ritual. She became aware that the controller could actually become more aware of the things that were already there and that she could enjoy so the fear of being left behind 'with empty cups' disappeared. I hope this gives you a slight insight in how tarot constellations work. Greetings Shade
