Hi...I posted an introduction but didn't really post anything about me or my tarot journey.

I got my first set of cards when I was about 15.  Don't know if anyone else here will remember the James Bond movie Live And Let Die, but it was set in New Orleans and had a character that used tarot cards.

One of the promotional items from that movie was a deck of those  cards.  There are called the Fergus Hall cards and the artwork is outstanding.  They are my favourites.

Anyway, I took them from my older brother who bought them and never used them.  I loved them and started teaching myself to read.  I got the usual flack from some folks about it was negative and the devil.  But I never felt that way about them.  I did it off an on with this deck for years.  Then one day, the cards turned on me.  They gave nothing but bad/negative or confusing/unrelated answers.  I figured they had become fouled and I didn't know how to clear them.  I gave them away hoping someone who knows how would get them and be able to cure them.

Anyway, I missed having cards so a few years ago I went and got the Gilded Tarot.  It's okay, but I never felt the affinity for it that I felt for my first deck.

I finally got that deck back as I found a copy of the deck from The Book Depository.  Now, I'm reading again and the cards are fighting me a bit.  What I mean by that is that at first they seemed to not be responding to my questions and giving weird answers, but only when I read for myself.  I read for others accurately.

A few months later and they seem to have settle down and are giving me clearer information.

So, that's my story and glad to have found this forum.

Welcome! What a lovely introduction <3 I certainly remember that movie, it’s still a favorite of mine. A friend borrowed me her vhs copy of it because she knew I used tarot so she thought I would love it. It felt so great seeing a card reader in a movie. Jane Seymour plays the role so well! I never had the deck that went with it (I discovered that movie in the 1990s so that deck was no longer available).

I look forward to interacting with you further and I’m sure you will love it here!

Hello and welcome to the TT&M Family Janet  X/

I remember that movie too and Jane Seymour is one of my fav actresses :-) What an interesting Tarot Journey you have. Reading for one-self is always a bit tricky but the TT&M Family will sure help you if you have questions with your readings.

Thanks for the warm welcome....and you can now get that deck from The Book Depository (I got it for under 30 bucks Canadian) ... you can find the original deck on Ebay but it's very pricey as it's now a collectors item.  Wishing I had kept my deck and sold it now lol.  It was in great shape.  Oh well.

I look forward to interacting with all the other tarot peeps!

Lovely interesting introduction truthseeker 65  :)

l also saw the James bond movie and was fascinated by the Jane Seymour character and her tarot cards.

Glad your cards have settled down.  l have had tarot sets  that have played up in the past, they get narky or unresponsive.  If it continues they either get passed on or put in a dark cupboard till they behave  >:D

Hello and welcome, truthseeker65[/member] !  It's cool that you got the deck that you loved so much back.  And don't worry, like Raggydoll[/member]  said, having trouble reading for yourself is perfectly normal.  It does get a bit easier with time though.  Enjoy the forum.  :) <3 :welcome:

thanks Nightshade...sometimes I'm able to read for myself very easily...the thing I find most frustrating is timing ... I ask qquestions with specific time frames in mind...such as "by the end of this week" and give a date or number of days but I know that doesn't always work.  I tried using the seasons for timings according to the cards but it was a little too vague ... I just wish timings were more accurate ... lol.that's the 11 in me needing solid concrete information lol...

Hi Janet!

Nice to meet you, thanks for sharing your personal story!

My deck of cards sometimes don't answer my questions as well, and instead, give me answers for an old question or something else. It's very interesting, but it makes it confusing because since the cards would answer a question I didn't ask, I don't really have a clear base to build an interpretation from.

I wish you lots of successes in your readings!  :)) ^-^
