Can a person, still, or in these modern times still wander like an old world gypsy reading tarot for curious souls?

Hmmmm, I wonder...

That would be so cool.  I think I might enjoy life on the road - there would be a lot less responsibilities, and when things got dull or problematic, you could just pick up and move on.  On the other hand, it would probably be hard to make enough money for food and shelter, and you just know that at some point you would be thrown in jail.  So I guess I'll stick to the modern way of life.

I’ve met people who were traveling from markets to markets offering card readings. I’m not sure if it was their sole income. But I do not think it’s entirely a thing of the past, at least not in certain parts of the world.

The readers at the Renaissance Fairs sure do!  ;D

Realistically no.

But (yay) I am signing on, for the first time ever, to be part of our Chicago-land pagan festival. There's a lot of reasons why I haven't, in the past, mostly because I'm somewhat "known" in my village, but they are changing venue this year to another community.

Survival would be the hardest part, as far as eating and maybe not drinking like an overflowing garbage bin in a back alley of restaurant row. But also finding a way to get a steady stream of clients could prove challenging. But then again, maybe people would find that alluring too.

On the last big tarot site that many of us here belonged to, (Aeclectic Tarot), there were a lot of people who actually even had their own "tarot wagon" type thing--where they decorated it and could pull it behind their vehicle and offered readings in it.  Many of these people I think probably did readings at fairs and such, but they were quite interesting looking.  Some had a small kitchenette area--with a sink and water and also a small microwave so they could "cook".  So, yeah, I think IF you had something like this and you could move from place to place and make enough money to pay for your gas and food, you might be able to pull it off, as long as you aren't trying to make a car payment in the process or try to eat expensive foods.

It does sound enticing at times to be like this--a sort of gypsy traveling diviner.  However, at the same time, I imagine it is not an easy life to lead.

However, sometimes it is something nice to dream about, isn't it? :)

It could be fun to do a few nice months a year. And it's a a good thing parts of AT is still accessible.

It would be fun in the summer, especially if one is financially set! ;)

I would want a vardo pulled by a horse.  8)

There's a gypsy fair here (nz) that travels around the country. They even have a website so you can see when they'll be in your town next. There's a lady that sells crystals and I know there's another person that does card readings. They're only here once a year but they set up for the weekend while they're here. So it is possible to gypsy your way around the country. Not sure what exactly is involved I doing it though

Yes, I have a friend who goes around festivals in her van in the summer giving head-messages & palm readings.

And traditional Romanies are still out there with their beautiful irish accents ... and they still scry & fortune tell because i got a reading from a gypsy just last christmas

Oh gosh...Did you read Stephen King's DR SLEEP? Whenever I see an RV I think of vampire gypsies...Can never look at RVs the same way again!

I'm glad to see this is being done after all. I'm not surprised either.
