What if a tarot deck could answer just one question for you in deep detail and with complete accuracy? Say that all of the common disclaimers are gone, the future it tells IS set in stone, the soul mate you seek comes with a name and address, you feel the tightness of the corset from a past life, the spirit you speak to rises in front of your eyes, the thoughts from your crush fill your mind… what would you dare to ask?

What are you brave enough to really know?

When my mother will die. I REALLY want to know. I NEED to know.

There is nothing else I want to know as a prediction or a certainty, so...

I have an old one:

What's the purpose of my life?

Libra, I don't  have anything I want to know but I do want to say your paragraph is well written!  Great topic starter!  <3

yes, wordsmithing, I like that. Nothing I want to know, but I fully understand Gregory's question.

I guess if I had one question it would be what lesson am I on this earth to learn in this lifetime.

That's a great one!  :D

I guess for me...

It would be to know everything I need to know to become my higher self!

or to know the great secrets of the universe that'll bring prosperity, love, and happiness to all!!!

Great question. I have sat here about 5 or so minutes just pondering what would I really want to know?  I have had a few thoughts come to mind but then dismiss them for certain reasons. I would have to say the one thing I need/want to know right now is will my new business succeed in the way I desire?  Am I headed in the proper direction with it?  (okay that was actually two wasn’t it?)

l would ask  'what is the afterlife truly like'.  Bit scary to ask, but l hope it would be all that l imagine in a nice way.

How about IS there an afterlife ?

Absolutely Gregory, l was torn between asking that and the one l mentioned.  But if l got an answer to my question, there would be one?

if no answer, no afterlife?

It's so cool seeing this come up in the thread so quickly because honestly, this is actually exactly why I asked. I think that there is a lot of disbelief in tarot, even among users, and to take that away, but only get the choice of ONE question means that you really, really have to mean exactly what you're asking, but also understand how you're asking it.

There's so much anxiety among new readers especially about asking the "right" question, and I found that really sitting in the exercise did a lot for my understanding about what things I do ask the cards about, and what my expectations are from a reading.

I love that you took gregory[/member]'s suggestion in stride, and decided to stick to your question after consideration! Because what question is right for you isn't necessarily right for someone else, right?

Hmm this is a hard one. I'm not sure I would ask about anything regarding the future. There would be so much that could be misconstrued. Would my asking the cards a question become a self-fulfilling prophecy? What if I don't like the answer? I would then have to somehow come to terms with my future without driving myself mad trying to change an unchangeable thing. Or what if I see it as a happy thing and then when it comes to pass it's the complete opposite? I'd likely then be incredibly guilt ridden for founding joy for so long in something that was actually heart rending.

I think I would save my question for something I could do something about. Maybe something like what could I do or keep in mind to become the best version of myself.
