DoNotDelete Posted March 17, 2019 Posted March 17, 2019 Hi everyone X/ Every time I try to do a tarot reading and pick the card The Moon, I get this thought saying "protection". It has happened several times. Is it some truth in this or am I way off? :-\
Eva4 Posted March 17, 2019 Posted March 17, 2019 It might be alerting you to vulnerability. The card could be suggesting that you are sensitive and that can work against you if you leave yourself unprotected or don't know how to cope. Moon is all about psychic energies and it can include psychic attack, being sensitive and vulnerable to vampires, toxic people, and situations. The moon's phases may affect you a lot, so watch them closely in relationship to how you respond to stressful and unexpected situations. Because wolves and crustaceans are typical to the scenery of this card in most decks, it might refer to natural instincts to protect or surround yourself with protection. For example, having familiars or literally, pets around to protect you. It could be you need to tap into that protective energy, either to protect yourself or for someone or something that needs protection. Let me know if this makes sense.
Bluelagune Posted March 17, 2019 Posted March 17, 2019 A story of Diana associated to Moon card. She once turned a guy into an elk who's friends later killed. He was not a very good person but not the point here ... her fear on intuitive level was her protection. So what are you afraid of?

I'm not sure if I understood it, but I will try to read it again a little later. I need a cup of coffee and cigarette first. :-[ Thank you for your reply though. <3

Eric13 Posted March 17, 2019 Posted March 17, 2019 Your thought on the Moon may not be wrong, it may not be right by definition. It depends on the question. It depends on the card you're using. To me, the Moon is the first Morher, where as the Sun is the first father. You could say the crustaxian is protected as long as it stays under water. You could say the barking dogs are protecting you. (The domesticated dog and wolf working together as a pack) you could say the Moon is lighting the night to guide your way on the path. So try to be esoteric about the card.
Alizon Posted March 20, 2019 Posted March 20, 2019 Hi everyone X/ Every time I try to do a tarot reading and pick the card The Moon, I get this thought saying "protection". It has happened several times. Is it some truth in this or am I way off? :-\ I think that if your intuition tells you something and it makes sense for you personally the meaning is right for you! I think as long as it makes sense to you it can't be "way off". When you go inside and ponder what moon means to you and the things you see in the card is there something that reminds you of being protected? If I had to connect the moon to protection I would think about how the moon card also shows part of the universe (just like the star card) and one might feel protected by "the universe" - in a spiritual sense... Also this card shows nighttime so in the dark things are not to be seen so clearly, in a sense this can mean a sort of protection. Imagine you got something to hide, or something you just don't want others to see. The soft moonlight won't illuminate all and reveal everything (like the sunlight would), so it could be protection from a disclosure.
PageOfCups Posted March 20, 2019 Posted March 20, 2019 This thread caught my eye because I happen to have my natal moon in Cancer (Cancer is ruled by the moon in astrology). And Cancers are the most protective sign (also of themselves—which I am, especially because I'm a Cancer moon instead of a Cancer Sun, so I'm more protective inwardly and I like to wear a shell to keep myself from getting hurt). I guess the answer to your question is then: YES. :bok: Because wolves and crustaceans are typical to the scenery of this card in most decks, it might refer to natural instincts to protect or surround yourself with protection. I second the Crustaceans thing. :dancecat: A story of Diana associated to Moon card. She once turned a guy into an elk who's friends later killed. sandrang123 Posted March 20, 2019 Posted March 20, 2019 Hi Koblo, As with everything in tarot, framing question, context, and surrounding cards will and can affect interpretations. But that said, I see nothing wrong with associating the Moon and protection. My Moon is in Pisces (squared Saturn :/ ), and I've always found my Moon's energies quite protective in that they strengthen intuition, and intuition, many times, can serve as a protector, sort of like knowing a pothole is in the road before your car falls into it, all because you can sense an unevenness to things beforehand. (Sorry, I live in Chicago...potholes are the story of my life in the winter months! :) ). Similarly, too, the Moon can be associated with protective motherly energies or Goddess energies, which are quite strong indeed. It might speak to protection gained through doing things via personal, emotional connections to others or backroom handshakes--things behind the scenes. Or it might speak to the necessity of "cloaking" or invisibility in a situation or with others, in order to protect self. It can speak to the necessity of keeping secrets or not saying all you know. The list goes on. I would suggest you trust your intuition with the card, as indeed this card more than some asks for that on a fundamental level, anyway. Maybe brainstorm all the ways that the Moon's energy can protect, and then see what you've come up with and what fits, intuitively, with your question or concern. All Best, Sandy
Cookie Posted March 20, 2019 Posted March 20, 2019 If you are highly sensitive, intuitive, artistic & the like then one is at risk of drowning in the deep waters of the unconscious , or getting lost in one's own emotions. However, as the archetypes are neutral, the moon could also protect you from this. The Archetypes of the Majors are solid and don't change... it's the prism that we observe the archetype thru that makes the experience different for every person on earth. Although it keeps its core meaning & value I find the card changes with the flux & re-flux of the actual moon. The Moon card is debatable one of the most elusive of definition, and the meaning from person-to-person spans the spectrum of different orbits like no other card. As other's have said on this post it is best to follow your intuition & feelings. I have found to my own detriment that to deny one's own inner voice a platform is not only confrontational to one's sense of self but also to a person's own grasp of free-will.
Grizabella Posted March 20, 2019 Posted March 20, 2019 Hi everyone X/ Every time I try to do a tarot reading and pick the card The Moon, I get this thought saying "protection". It has happened several times. Is it some truth in this or am I way off? :-\ I think it probably tells you of a need to protect yourself from something, not that the Moon signifies you're being protected. The Moon keeps us from seeing things clearly. The Moon's shadows can hide and distort our perception. We can miss something that we need to see clearly. The crustacean crawling out of the water signifies something crawling up out of our subconscious but we're only able to see a dim view of it. Imagine yourself out in the dark night with only the light of the Moon. You know or sense there's something around you that's possibly negative but you can't see it clearly so you feel vulnerable and vaguely uneasy. The wolf and the dog are the wild and the tame of our own nature. In moonlight they both look a lot alike.
DoNotDelete Posted March 20, 2019 Posted March 20, 2019 Thanks for all the interesting replies. Just for the record - it's a full moon here in just some hours. And I can't remember to have been so spiritually clear in my mind ever. I've tried to study astrology as some talks about here, but with not much success. I have to admit that I don't like it anymore. Tonight I saw it all clear, that I shouldn't trust a system that is meant for predictions when it's out of my hands. Same thing with The Bible. Both contains human predictions or in fact prophecies that can be evil. I have had some astrology reports made for me, and some of them were a bit evil and came true. Same with prophecies from christians - I stay away from both from now. Tarot is different though. It's a deck of cards that I paid for myself, it's meant to be used with one owns intuition - and though I like to trust the classical interpretations (like from learntarot.com) - I use my own body as I shuffle and deal the cards. I think my body knows what best for me, and what's right for me.
