Hi dear fellow tarot readers,

I have been using the tarot for a long time now and it really helps me to develop insights about myself and how I relate to others. Lately I have been noticing a trend and would like to hear your views on this. The tarot seems to be very accurate when my mind is empty and I own my feelings. When I am tense and afraid concerning the topic I ask a question about, the tarot seems to only mirror my fears. For instance, I get the moon a lot then. Or the nine of swords. Or when I want to control certain life events, instead of an answer to the question, I get the four of pentacles. When I need the answer NOW, I get the impatient knight of wands. Only when I calm down or ask the tarot why I get negative cards, the cards become more clear, more positive and also more accurate to the situation. Is it wise to not do a reading when you are tense? What are your experiences with this?

Thank you for sharing your ideas, looking forward to it.

When you're shuffling the cards your muscles are part of the process. Being tense will affect your shuffle. And if you're tense the same way all the time consistently shuffling the same way on a regular basis you will pull the  same cards

Over and over.

The cards you get are likely not the answer to your question they're more like the answer to your stress.

Thank you! Would this also be the case when you draw the cards online?

No probably not. In that case it actually depends on what they use as the seed value or condition for the program to use to initiate the random drawing cards.

There could be anything going on there that actually has almost nothing to do with you.

The Daily Tarot Girl recently had a spread for how to read for yourself when you are feeling too emotional.

She suggests a choosing a card that shows how you want to feel about the situation, then asking how to get there. You could also ask why you are feeling a certain way about the issue.

That's so similar to something I do for myself! I basically say "Thank you deck, for showing me what I want to see/what I fear the most (whatever fits), now could you please show me the truth? *pulls another card* Perfect - but one last thing, can you show me how to bridge the two? *pulls another card between them*"

And this sounds like a quick process, but it's not really for me. Like if I pull the card that scares me the most about that situation - I'm not right away just pulling another, I'm letting myself truly explore that fear and feel into it before asking my deck for the truth card. As I believe that my decks are imbued with a spirit that intends to help my growth and understanding of self, I have to trust that every card they give me has a purpose. Sometimes that purpose is a reminder that it's ok to be frustrated or scared, so I accept that reminder before digging into how to overcome those feelings.
