Hello!

I've been studying my tarot deck as well as keeping a tarot journal, this is something that works really well for me and gives me my own place to reflect. But as I've been studying I've come up with a couple questions.

First:

My decks court arcana consists of Kings, Queens, Princes, and Princess's, and not the traditional Page and Knight. I am wondering if Page is equal to Princess and Knight is equal to Prince, but if not, what is the difference?

Second:

Say I am doing a reading for myself and after I have layed out the cards and seen them, realized I may not be in the mind set for it. Is it okay to simply put away the cards and forget about the spread, and then ask the same question the next day, or when I am feeling ready, and draw new cards?

Third:

I avidly use stones in my everyday life as I am a strong believer in their various properties and vibrational energies. I would really like to incorporate them into my own readings, does anyone else do this? For example, putting some stones out that will specifically clarify my intentions and my mind, or having some love/relationship related stones out while doing a love/relationship reading. If anyone does do this, I would be interested to hear if you have any special techniques or placements.

Thank you for any advice or opinions anyone may have, I'm very open to hear!

Yes, in general Page=Princess and Knight=Prince.

I generally note the cards and make plans to come back to them. I feel they pick up on whatever my mind was on and they do have something to say about it. I'm the kind of person that believes everything is a lesson though. Others may do things differently. Go with your gut feeling. Ultimately, you are the best person to judge what's correct in any given scenario.

I've not used stones with Tarot so I'll leave that to others.

I Believe So

Second:

I personally have done both, however, when I do draw those cards, I do make a note of what those cards were because they did come up for a reason. I then may draw new cards later and/or the next day as well and see if there's a relation between the ones I drew before and the ones I draw in the moment.

Third:

I avidly use stones in my everyday life as I am a strong believer in their various properties and vibrational energies. I don't use stones that much, except for crystals and even then I only use them after the reading to display the cards.

Thank you for any advice or opinions anyone may have, I'm very open to hear!

Since your first question has already been answered I’m gonna focus on the other two.

I like to take a picture of my spreads and do some quick notes on the context (what the question was) plus what positions I used (if I wasn’t using a free form spread). Then I go back to that spread later and interpret it while looking at the picture. I think it’s important to not make a habit out of abandoning spreads, especially the ones you find challenging or overwhelming. By following through you will grow as a reader in ways you otherwise wouldn’t. You will also learn more layers of meanings for every card this way. That’s also why I generally don’t recommend beginners that they use clarifies. If you trust your intuition and you are patient with yourself then you will find that you can interpret any card in any position. It’s important to get over that block of self doubt because doubt can and will drown out your intuitive voice.

I use crystals a great deal. I select them intuitively with the intention of enhancing the energies of the reading (or strengthening certain traits that the querent feels like they are lacking; like adding crystals that help with establishing personal boundaries, expressing self love, building self confidence etc). I sometimes use a small crystal grids placed next to my reading, other times I just use one or more crystals that I place in a way that feels both powerful and aesthetically pleasing.

Others have answered here for you but different decks have different names of cards sometimes and they are just the same card really :)

You can use your tarot however you like! The only thing I would say is that don't keep rereading or pulling cards because you don't like the message or answer that has come out. As you learn tarot, you trust it more! You do a reading, it gives you a message but don't reread because it's not said the positive thing you wanted to hear, that is not a great way of using tarot. So if you think you were not in the right mindset at that time, it's fine, either look at it again with clearer insight or reread but it's not helpful to just discard it because you don't like what it says if my only warning here :) I won't read if I am very tired or very emotional, I just know it will give me terrible and jumbled up readings so I avoid reading then until the next day

It's absolutely fine, you can make your tarot techniques / methods however you want! It's for you! your journey. Lot's of people use crystals and gem stones, why not see which works best in your readings, experiment with it :) Also we have a crystal area on the forum, why not start a discussion thread about this here and get opinions of what other people find works the best. The forum is moving in the next 24 hours so you might want to wait until then and find the crystals area then but it would be a good discussion to start, can't see anything like that there yet :)

Hi Daniel...I use crystals ... I have specific crystals...for cleansing the deck and my psyche and environment ... I have stones that relate to healing both emotional as well as physical ... I have stones  that relate to the topics that interest me such as money and luck.  I keep them with my deck.  If it helps you to focus, then use them.

It depends on what deck you have. In the Thoth deck, the Knights are Kings and the Princes are Kings:

https://www.lelandra.com/tarotbook/courtcorres.htm explains it well, I think.

Sorry if this confuses you, but it confuses me, too!

The Princesses are the Pages.

But if she also has Kings, Thoth is not the issue ;)

Unless it's a screwy deck and the Knights are on Chariots and the Kings are on horses....

I'd be curious to know which deck it is and what the artwork looks like.

re: discarding, don't. It is a copout and you won't learn/grow by using this option.

Use smaller spreads with specific questions, or pull one card and write down everything you can think about it...in relation to your question. Not just generic keywords, they are jumping off points only not divination or thoughtful responses

welcome to the fun!
