I know this is still being set up and worked on, so hope this is not being too ahead of myself.

But...

NEW stays at the top of each area and even if you click on all the sub forums to get rid of it - each time a new response is made it appears again. Some of these sub forums we do not go into at all as it might be an exchange between X and Y or even something that might not be of interest or our chosen poison.

Is there a way to control NEW everytime a comment is made regardless of what sub forum/thread etc?

You can mark threads as read without looking at them by clicking the icon at the beginning of it's name.

If you go into a sub forum, somewhere close to the title (underneath it in grey on my phone) is a 'mark this section as read' button too.

I can't find it on my phone right now, but you can also mark the whole site as read too.

I hope that's a little bit helpful?

Thanks. Will try that. Good to know.

Doesn't work as just tried 4 of them and even clicked OK when it asked: "Do you want all forums to be marked as read?".

😞 I'll continue trying to work it out for you.  I'm sure there might be others with suggestions soon too!

At the bottom of the site there is the option to click on "Mark site read" - is this what you're looking for @DownUnderNZer or is it just certain threads you want to mark as read?

I wonder if there's an option to not follow certain threads in your profile area or something like that? (ponders) :animated-smileys-thinking-36:

There is an option in our Profiles to Manage Followed Content, which is useful when we've selected forums to follow. It would be a handy way to just check up on only the threads/forums we're interested in.

Right:

1) I'm not following anything so am not sure if that would be applicable.

2) Starlight - Yes, that bottom option is not working it seems. Not for me that is.

It would be cool so that it does not show NEW at the top of everything each time someone comments whether you visit that thread/forum/sub-forum or not.

Found a way:

Before going into any main area or forum (Eg Tarot Talk) there is a "?" or "Quote Icon" to the very left of the TITLE.

Click on that and then voila!
