I am a newbie and interested in exploring more about spreads.  I am eyeing two books on amazon but at the moment can only get one.  There is one by Barbara Moore and one by Liz Dean.  Are either of these recommended,  and if so,  is one better than the other?  Or if there's another book that you recomend please let me know.  Thank you.

I agree with FLizarraga ; there are many resources on the internet for free!

If you still are going to buy a book; my favorite is The Ultimate Guide to Tarot Spreads: Reveal the Answer to Every Question about Work, Home, Fortune and Love by Liz Dean.

It's hardly an ultimate book, it's hard to fit that description, but it's a great resource book with a quick reference of card meanings and symbolism, meaning of colors and numbers, etc. Over 70 spreads about work, home, fortune, love ...

It's a beautiful full-color book that is very nice to use as it has a practical size and good inner margin, and the book stays open when you go to a specific page.

I don't know about better, as I haven't seen Dean's book - but Barbara Moore is my absolutely go to tarot author, and I love her book on spreads.

So - now you get to choose between me and KaiNO ! But it sounds as though either book would be good. And yes - there is indeed LOADS of stuff on line.

As a matter of interest - the Moore is on amazon USED for $2.99, and the Dean for $10.04. Just saying. (I always buy used when I can).

I am also newbie in tarot reading but i am not following any specific book.

I am using Rider Waite Tarot deck and love spending time focussing on picture and in parallel use websites for their meaning to map with the picture on the card.

Other than that i am also reading others analysis to see what card they fetch and what they read to understand the cards.

You an not learn all card at once but with daily reading, you keep remembering them slowly.

Thats the way i am doing.

For some reason,  when I click on the link under the regular price (the one that says "48 New for 2.99" it is just showing me ones that start at 10. My amazon has been doing this a lot lately and can't figure out why.  Can you link me directly to the2.99 copy?  I like to buy used also but lately this glitch has been preventing me)

There are two editions; one is flexibound the other is seemingly regular bound.  Did you get the flexibound?  Thank you!!!

Before you go spending your hard-earned money on books, how about exploring these resources?

https://www.thetarotforum.com/forums/forum/14-tarot-spreads/

A lot of them are taken from books, yet many of them you won't be able to find in any book. Best of all, these resources are both priceless and free.

Yes, I have researched this here,   thank you.  I prefer a book however that I can mark up and tab.

I've never heard about "flexibound" before now (english is not my native language). And I'm not particularly versed in book printing either. But I think my book is flexibound 😅

I think flexibound means spiral bound so it lays flat.  I think 🤔

Mine is not spiral bound, but I googled images for "flexi-bound" and my book looks like the books depicted there...

But the book I have is very easy to lay flat, not matter which pages I open.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/0738727849/ - but it seems to include postage. I am in the UK, and so it would be high for me. I just switched delivery to Ohio (a postal code I happen to know !) and the price went right down - but still shows t with shipping. Where are you ?

For the UK I get slightly better:

To each their own. I, too, prefer printed books for study purposes, but spreads are one of those things where I feel better served picking and choosing from many sources. I have filled out entire binders with stuff printed out from the forums, both spreads and posts that have ben particularly illuminating to me. Peace.

My favorite book of tarot spreads is 365 Tarot Spreads by Sasha Graham. This book has a different spread for every day of the year, and a lot of the spreads are different from your more standard spreads, but that's why I like it so much!
