The Sun for why something did not work out

Hi all - am very new to this forum so let me know if this is the wrong place to post this question

My question was "what was a reason why (person 1) and I did not work out?" and the card I pulled was the Sun

Could anyone share their insight on this? The only thing I could think of was that maybe there was too much too soon? But I'd love other opinions

Maybe you burned out? Maybe it got too hot, hah! Maybe the sun shone its light on some less than good qualities.. under the sun nothing is hidden (in contrast to how the moon card can be sometimes) and something ugly showed up.

Page of Ghosts made some very good suggestions. Another thought that occurs to me is the possibility of one or the other of you, or both for that matter, had expectations that were too high. Sometimes we start into a relationship wearing the proverbial "rose-colored glasses", only seeing the excitement and experiencing the joy, but we might soon find that the novelty wears off.

Sunny days are wonderful, but they come and they go.

The sun is always positive no matter how it shows up.  So the relationship didn’t work out.

That’s a negative.

Are you sure?

The Sun sees all things.  It says, “ You might have had a fine relationship with this person.  You might still.  But if you don’t it’s because someone better is on the way.”    Good or better: that’s The Sun.

The truth; reality of the situation has come to light. Maybe the situation was based on unfounded beliefs or curiosities and the sun shines light on the darkness of the unknown to where it is percievable to the naked eye and its conclusion is for the best and greater good. For ex if someone wasnt hired for a job it was not fit for that person based on their needs or skillset which was not fully known before or a broken relationship based on unfounded false hopes; the truth or reality of the two were revealed and found incompatible in the eyes of one and/or the other.

I don't think that there was a wholly negative reason for your breakup, fernwolf. But the Sun card indicates that maybe Person 1 didn't find the zest, optimism, and joy he had been expecting in the relationship you had. He probably thought he can find that somewhere else, or that true love would come his way some day. Nothing really drove him away, but there was nothing there that would make him stay either.

In my experience it's hard to diminish the positive qualities of The Sun. I think people have offered some fine possibilities here, though. I will add that The Sun embodies youthfulness and innocence in many decks, so perhaps that might speak to the relationship not having a level of maturity needed to sustain itself long-term. It might have been a "fun" relationship rather than an enduring one. The Sun rules Leo, Leo is in the 5th house of romantic attractions but not long-term love and commitment (represented instead by the 7th house).

Another thought that comes to me is pretty mundane: That children might have come to play (kids, previous marriage, etc.).

The sun might mean that the fact that person 1 and you did not work out is a good thing. The end of the relationship will bring something new and good. The sun is always positive.

I just cannot connect with this idea that the sun is always positive.

Nothing in this world is always positive at all times and in all amounts. The literal sun causes drought, blindness, burns, uv radiation damage (not just to people, either!). Even as a metaphor for exuberance or joy, there are negative effects to having too much of that in your life, too. Complacency, exhaustion, lack of discretion and judgment are just a few examples of that.

The sun ? Always positive ? Absolutely not. Think sunburn, skin cancer, heatstroke.

Too much of anything is bad for you. This was too much, in some way.

The sun can be about the merging of two people. These people merge together because they were created for each other. That is why original tarot decks show two children coming together and standing in and outside a circle. And the next card shows all three versions of consciousness actually coming together (that's why they are in grey in Judgement).

The Sun is where you lose your identity only to realize you have been connected to the one identity this entire time. (Extremely esoteric).

I would guess it didn't work out because that person was not the "one" for you. Your consciousness did not come together to create One consciousness.

I am writing from a very esoteric view of the Sun and not an exoteric view. Both are right.

Too high of expectations perhaps?  Too optimistic?  8)
