Hello all,

Still recovering from a very intense week, but on a lighter note...

i am curious what decks you are drawn to use during this Autumn/Samhain Season?

i am planning on pulling out some of mine this morning...

Seasonal decks...one of my favorite topics  ;D

I really like my Llewellyn Tarot for autumn. It has that golden, harvest feel to me. The Arthurian has an autumn feel to me as well. Celtic Wisdom and Vision Quest for me are late summer/early fall.

I also got the Dracula Tarot by Vicky Vladic earlier this year, and am looking forward to working with that in October. The creator did a really good job of relating each card to themes and characters in the book.

For oracles, definitely my Halloween Oracle, one of my favorites :D Also Earthly Souls and Spirits. I love the Moon Phases Oracle for all times of year, but I do think it's very nice for autumn.

Looking forward to reading everyone's posts in this thread :)

I love this time of year and a lot of my favorite decks I consider Autumn-friendly.

The Green Witch Tarot is my go-to this time of year. It's a great year around deck, but the softer earth tones in it give me a very fall vibe. I also work with the Tarot of the Hidden Realm, and of course all the halloween and darker themed decks that I have in my collection. Oddly enough the Steampunk Tarot is very appealing to me during the fall and early winter too. I think it's because there's a ton of brown in the artwork and the "Vintage"/Victorian style.

Wonderful decks you have both mentioned, my friends! Although, i am not aware of that particular Dracula Deck, Raven! Is it still available?

It will be my Nightmare just before Christmas deck.  :P ;D

It IS still available! But I believe the only way to get it is direct from the creator, based in Australia. You can visit her web store here: http://www.vsomethingesoterics.com/apps/webstore/. I emailed her, paid via Paypal, and she shipped the deck off to the US for me. It arrived remarkably quickly given how far it had to travel!

I've been sitting on the fence about some of the other vampire decks for ages. Lately I've been more drawn to the Daniels' Tarot of Vampyres, but some of the other vampire decks pique my interest as well. I also have the Archeon which is a darker deck but I've never been able to get into it for whatever reason. I'm actually hoping to trade that one.

Love seeing these favorites so far! MG, what are the Crow Stones?

RE: Vladic's Dracula Tarot: Thanks, Raven...i couldn't resist it! i just took a deep breath and pushed the Paypal button...

i am really quite excited to see it in person.

What is the cardstock like, etc?

i wonder if VLADic is her real last name or just her "nom de plume"... ;D

i also noticed she has a print on demand book on Amazon...Do you have that?

Oh, i have been looking at some of the paintings/images of the deck...i just love it! It has so much ambiance, and so tastefully done. It really does capture the essence...

I love, love, love the Hermit card!

My big one is the Wooden Tarot. It feels weird to use in spring and summer, but once the leaves start to fall we click again. Which isn't totally fair since the entire Cups suit is full of flowers (Blooms) but hey.

An obvious choice is the Raven's Prophecy. The orange borders make that obvious, but even if you've trimmed them the deck is still full of shadows, fire, and of course ravens.

Oh yay! I just love the deck, it really is superbly done. The card stock is good as well. It's a small deck, about the size of Tarot of Trees if you're familiar with that, so my only wish is that the cards were a little bigger to show off the great artwork, but it's very nice as it is. I did read in one of her blog posts that she changed her last name to Vladic, part of a overall life transformation she intended for herself.

I don't have the hard copy book (although I think I read about some people who had the book and NOT the deck...and still felt they got something out of the book!), but there is a PDF equivalent of kind of an LWB for the deck. Go to this page: http://www.vsomethingesoterics.com/thedraculatarot.htm. Scroll all the way to the bottom, there is a link there to download the PDF :)

My Halloween Tarot, the fun USGS deck, will have to come out and play soon. Probably also Ostara, despite the name I think it could be an autumn/wintery deck! And Wild Unknown as well. The sparseness and naked branches for the wands suit remind me a lot of winter.

Beat ya to it! i already downloaded the PDF! ;D  i used to have the Tarot of Trees, and that is pretty small.

About Poker or playing card size...so i am a wee bit disappointed about that, admittedly. But if the details still show up, i will be very happy...

It is just that i need reading glasses as it is...

i still would have ordered it...

i think it is pretty reasonably priced, considering it is a self published deck coming all the way from Oz

It was just under $45 USD including the International shipping.

i am sooooo happy you mentioned it, Raven, and glad i started this thread! Timing is everything.

Have you seen the Trick or Tarot Deck? He is also working on a Halloween Themed Lenormand deck, that might be available sooner...

i can send you link to see the Tarot cards, if you don't know about it. It is beyond fabulous!

I'm probably also going to pull out the Wild Unknown, and maybe buy certain decks from my wishlist, like Raven's Prophecy, Antique Anatomy, maybe a vampire deck....

Robert Places's Vampire is another super vampire themed deck, but unfortunately it is OOP...but they pop up every now and again for an affordable price. i trimmed mine and edged it in black. This deck is also based on Bram Stoker's Dracula.

Yep, me too! ;D  i have used this same avatar [and similar through out the year, when i am in the mood].

The two from my collection that I think of is the Llewellyn and Badgers Forest.

The Barbara Walker Tarot strikes me as a really apt autumn deck.

But whew at the Dracula Tarot. I want it!

I love the idea of using decks according to the season, but I don't know if I have enough to do that yet!

Especially when talking about Autumn, which is my favorite season by far, I don't know if I have anything fitting the bill...

The Wild Unknown feels Samhain/Halloweeny enough, but truthfully, I think I don't have any deck with an Autumn feel or colors.

For oracles, I guess the Green Man Tree Oracle could work well and also the Druid Animal Oracle maybe, even though all seasons are pictured in the images.

This is really a nice coincidence. I just found the perfect Tarot deck I can work with this autumn, and it's even available locally! I hope the Modern Spellcaster's gets here before the weekend.  :D

I love the Hallows, but they mostly last a week.  What about the rest of the time?    I look forward to fall: all the cool nights, the clear skies.  For those I like Ukiyoi and Hallowquest.  As the weather gets cooler, I like Animals Divine and Shapeshifter.

It's a gaffed deck intended for mentalism rather than reading, but if you're going for good old Halloween creepiness, there's nothing like the Dark Dawn. (You can still use regular Majors meanings.)

Alas, it's OOP, but there are others here http://www.outlaw-effects.com/store/the-arsenal/specialities.html Bonus - the stock is thick and weird and incredible.  :D

That looks neat Katrinka. I like it!

But in the link you gave, it seems that the list (up to the second page) does not display any link to the Dark Dawn deck? Is it still available?

It was a LE of 150 copies, but he *might* be persuaded to send you an unnumbered one if you email him.  ;)
