For chat/list phone contacts/checking phone+messages?

Posted

I had a sitter once who got the 7 of Cups and considered it a perfect expression of his career aspirations in developing virtual-reality programs.

I see it more as a fantasy and delusion card. Daydreaming, procrastinating, drinking...things people do instead of dealing with things head on.
Which could still be applicable if they're checking their messages instead of doing what needs to be done, lol.

Yeah, also about head in the clouds. Working on PC/mobile. Can be it also about some kind of obsession to communication apps, or phone?

btw- is page of pents also giving attention to mobile phone/or to someone?

That's a good question, and I'm surprised it hasn't generated more discussion already.
I haven't found going off the pictures alone to be an effective reading method (some will disagree.) Waite does say that " He moves slowly, insensible of that which is about him" (it does sound like somebody walking along, giving their phone their rapt attention) as part of the card description, but not the divinatory meaning. http://www.sacred-texts.com/tarot/pkt/pktpepa.htm
Crowley, however, wasn't trying to obscure any Golden Dawn material in in his deck, and the meaning doesn't allude to anything like that: https://www.corax.com/tarot/cards/disks-princess.html

There's also the fact that other Courts seem to be absorbed in their suit symbols: The Pages of Cup and Wands, the Queen of Cups, etc. I don't think there's a card that carries this meaning all by itself. Can the Pentacle be representative of a phone? There is some metal in a phone, and plastic is a petroleum product, but can openers are metal and plastic, too. What holds our attention isn't the metal and plastic. There's a flow (Cups) of information that's transmitted via electrical impulses to the circuit board. Electricity would be indicated by your fire suit - usually Wands, but some use Swords, since fire would destroy a Wand but Swords are forged in fire.

In the end, the best card I've found for things transmitted via phone/computer is the 8 of Wands.  I would look for that one next to the relevant person card.  (Just my opinion - these devices obviously didn't exist when Crowley and Waite were writing their books.) Trying to pick what we've been talking about off of a single card is guesswork, but having a supporting card gives you a little more to go on. 😉

Oh my, you said too many informations!

(I must read rn links you shared). Those cloud can be taken as chat/messages window, those images as emoticons lol 😄

And that person is giving attention to this in 100%

Also he can searching something.

Don't forget (by image stuff) page of pents have something small in his hands and it's "portable". I guess in this century all the cards would be read by images if we ask about communication. Also about how much fast is that kind of communication (wands/swords=fast) (cups/pents=slower). So we can get more correct read if we are checking what is at card and also meaning/quotes about this card.

I'm happy you put to this post so many informations! Thank you!

My pleasure.
I mistyped something. That should have been "8 of Wands" not "Ace" in the last paragraph. Edited to fix it.
It's a good card for wireless transmissions. :)

I know, its fast communication like sms.....Imo 7 of cups is passive card in communication, so just checking messages/websites, but wands+swords are about fast action, pents are about action too, but slower - like if you mix 7 of cups with 8 of wands(?).
