isawhale Posted September 26, 2017 Posted September 26, 2017 Wondering what these cards mean for feelings keep pulling 5 of cups rx and 3 of swords rx for a person's feelings and not sure how to interpret. I suppose it can be read as moving away from sadness to healing or perhaps trying to block out sadness...some sources say it means extreme sadness but I wouldn't take it as that at all...I tend to pull cards for myself so that I can better read for others but don't think I've ever pulled these for my own feelings so have no real life experience/confirmation of this reversal..what do you think? For now I'm sort of taking these as blocking emotional pain.
Lantana Posted September 26, 2017 Posted September 26, 2017 I agree with you on not really seeing the later. In that vein, I would go more with the person being unable to move on. Maybe they're still holding on to whatever has caused the grief/heartbreak, maybe they still need time to process or heal, or maybe they're "stuck" and need help in order to start healing. I could also see it as the first interpretation, but that's a bit more of an "action" than a feeling to me. Without context, it's hard to be sure.
isawhale Posted September 26, 2017 Author Posted September 26, 2017 Definitely could see this as stuck and not able to process (the upright); I see this with other reversals. Interesting; I think healing or letting go can be in the emotional spectrum; maybe not, just how I see it. XD On the other hand reversals don't tend to pertain to letting go and are usually more of an indicator of some sort of block as that's what they seem to almost always end up being when I get any sort of real life confirmations on the cards. Thanks :)
EmpyreanKnight Posted September 27, 2017 Posted September 27, 2017 I'm inclined to agree with your first interpretation, isawhale. Both the 5 of Cups and the 3 of Swords indicate melancholy, weariness, or sadness, and a reversal of both means that the subject feels like the black veil of dejection is slowly being lifted, whether wilfully through conscious effort or because the changes in circumstances has caused the dark clouds to dissipate somewhat.
isawhale Posted September 28, 2017 Author Posted September 28, 2017 I think first instinct is usually right; but it's hard to say. I think an upright clarifier would help in this. I pulled hanged man for that; so letting go of those feelings seems to be the likely case.
EmpyreanKnight Posted September 29, 2017 Posted September 29, 2017 The Hanged Man can also mean that a new perspective on the situation provided the querent with a dawning clarity that would help him/her overcome these negative feelings.
