Barleywine Posted August 20, 2019 Posted August 20, 2019 (edited) I've been thinking outside the box again (a decidedly dangerous pursuit). I get some use out of the Lenormand house system (although I don't use it exhaustively every time), both the traditional 36-card Grand Tableau version and the "movable houses" approach to smaller spreads. I've been pondering whether something similar could be done with the tarot, and decided to use a method I already created for another purpose as an experiment. It seems to hold some promise as an alternative to the astrological spread. https://parsifalswheeldivination.com/2019/08/20/a-house-system-for-tarot/ Edited August 20, 2019 by Barleywine
Raggydoll Posted August 20, 2019 Posted August 20, 2019 This is a really interesting topic, even to someone like me who do not do lenormand. I think I would personally stick with 22 houses representing the majors and then use the whole deck and pull 22 cards to look into each area of a persons life journey. It would be interesting to see which areas have major cards in them and where certain cards or elements repeat. I am sure it could also be used to pinpoint blocks, challenges etc.

For sure, I really like to explore those type of contrasts too. I look forward to see where you (and other people) take this. I am going to do some more thinking about it and see if I want to try something along these lines for myself as well.
Raggydoll Posted August 20, 2019 Posted August 20, 2019 In a way, this reminds me (at least visually) about the chakra check up reading that I did for myself earlier this year. I marked a designated spot for each chakra with a card from the animal spirit oracle so there were basically 7 chakra houses to place the cards in. Its obviously not the same but still share some similar ideas. Just thinking out loud here.

In thinking about the house cards as showing underlying motives, I'm going to work up another model that draws the house cards from the bottom of the deck after shuffling in the same way a typical shadow card is drawn. I normally don't use shadow cards unless I design them into a spread as I would do here. This would create a two-tiered reading, one part explicit and the other part more subtle (and perhaps psychologically motivational).

Too bad there isn't a version without titles, since I think they would inspire me more as simple images.
Ix Chel Posted August 23, 2019 Posted August 23, 2019 I like the idea of Tarot houses. You can give the houses the Golden Dawn name of each card. And maybe you can divide a reading only concerning the Majors, or a suite related to the question. I do not really know how the Courts would be used. I am looking forward to your blog posts about this subject.
