sage_lacroix Posted August 21, 2019 Posted August 21, 2019 Okay, so I didn't see this topic anywhere, I hope I didn't miss it. One of my guilty pleasures on YouTube is watching Antphrodite, a tarot reader who does celebrity/pop culture/true crime readings on YouTube and Twitch. Although I think they're fun, when I first saw them, I had some questions about the efficacy of celebrity tarot readings, so I would like to talk about it and see what you guys think. Basically, when I was first learning to read, the woman who taught me told me that you should not "read" someone without their permission because that violates a boundary and their personal space (and also it is very difficult to tell if you are getting accurate information in that case). Personally, I don't do readings for people unless I get explicit permission from them but obviously I don't judge anyone who does. It still makes me a little nervous and also I think I'm less effective when I'm removed from the person or situation. However, yesterday I was cleaning the house and listening to his "About Me" video and this very issue came up (I timestamped it, but just in case it didn't work, it's at 16:57): I was wondering why he might think it's a "red flag?" Is it because the people he is reading are celebrities and perhaps it would be different if he was trying to read other people? The whole thing left me with a bunch of mixed feelings and questions so I wanted to see what your reactions were. Possible discussion questions (I swear you don't have to answer but this is what I'm thinking about): 1. Do you/have you done readings on people who are not present? Have you ever done readings on famous or public figures? 2. Do you think there needs to be some kind of permission to read another person/situation? Why or why not? 3. Do you agree with his reasoning or thoughts as he answered this question?
AJ-ish/Sharyn Posted August 21, 2019 Posted August 21, 2019 no good luck getting that... I seldom fool with youtube, iffy connections, so can't respond to that, but the only way you and the querent can ever know if your response is correct is if it is about themselves. it's all bullshit otherwise.
