Cosma Visions Deck By James R Eads

James Eads, creator of the wonderful Prisma Visions Tarot (one of my favorite decks and one of the most beautiful!) has a companion deck coming out in 2020, the Cosma Visions oracle deck. In an Instagram post he says:

In the beginning there is death. It is what we often fear most and know so little about. Death, we imagine, is the empty expanse; the soundless dark void where there is nothing, everywhere. But in this oracle, death marks the start. Perhaps, it is here that we can finally see death not as the impending force of doom we so fear, but rather an escort to our next chapter. It is the culmination of a cycle and opens a door for a new lifetime to unfold.

And to someone who asked about it being a companion deck to the Prisma Visions, he says:

this will be an oracle deck with the same format as prisma visions. It can be used with prisma visions or alone. there will be 22 major cards with borders and 56 minors.

It sounds like reincarnation may be a major theme of the deck. The art, of course, is absolutely stunning. There seem to be quite a few birds in the early major arcana of the deck. (Including a gorgeous Crow...swoon.)

He says he's undecided whether this will be a Kickstarter or a straight pre-order through his site, but there should be news about that sometime after the new year. If I see any new information I will pass it on here.

I am SO excited for this deck 💖You can see all the images he's posted so far (there's only 8 of them) here.

A few images from this stunning upcoming oracle from James Eads, creator of the Prisma Visions Tarot. He calls this oracle a companion deck to the tarot, and it follows a tarot format.

I love this idea, an afterlife tarot. I cannot wait to get my hands on this deck!

Just got some news from James R. Eads on the forthcoming oracle deck! In his latest email, he says:

"I've been teasing Cosma Visions for months on the Prisma Visions Instagram page without mention of a release date yet. I am still waiting on a final piece to come together, because of Covid-19 there have been numerous delays with this project. I am aiming to launch the kickstarter on 7.20.20. This is not set in stone yet, I will of course send out another email about it when I have a concrete idea of when it will launch. I  will open shipping up to all countries, hopefully by the time rewards are sent out at the end of the year some normalcy will have returned to shipping."

This deck, like all of his work, is sooooo beautiful ❤️

that looks like tarot rather than oracle, is he marketing this as an oracle? Sorry, I'm off coffee so not too sharp, easily confused 😉

Haha, no worries @AJ-ish/Sharyn 😄 I've seen some of James' followers ask the same question. I remember his response was that it is an oracle deck that uses the structure of a tarot deck. But yes, it is being marketed as an oracle, not as tarot. Based on his recent Instagram posts it sounds like the deck might have 5 suits, 4 of which correspond to the tarot suits plus an additional one, in addition to what would correspond to the major arcana. But not 100% sure I'm understanding that correctly- if I see more about that I'll post here. I'm so curious to see more of the deck and even more curious to use it! I'm excited for a July Kickstarter and an end of year ship date 😊

For anyone who was interested in this deck, it is now LIVE on Kickstarter! https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/jamesreads/the-cosma-visions-oracle-deck-and-prisma-visions-tarot-book

Oh My!! $269 402 at this point (on an initial goal of $35 000), that's already a Huge success!

Actually it is very artistic and beautiful.

I won't back it on my side though, because on one hand it is above the limit regarding customs (and I began to limit my purchases outside Europe), also because I'm not sure that I would read with it (it would be more a collector deck).

But a great deck of course, and 22 days ahead for the campaign, it'll beat records!

I backed it and went for the whole shebang as I never bought any of his decks, though I've been drooling over them for years!  I can no longer resist!

LOL, when I first glanced at this, I thought the deck was $269 and I went to kickstarter to see what possible justification there could be for that. I just woke up and I'm still getting my brain back. More caffeine!

It's very pretty. Are those holographic black edges? And that satchel/spreadcloth is pure genius. Plus, it's priced well below $269! 🤣

I don't think I'd use it much, though. I never considered the Prisma Visions, despite the lovely colors, since it didn't strike me as much of a reading deck, at least in my case. And this is no different. Anglo attempts at a Bardo Thodol always seem to come off a little too new age/Sylvia Browne. Case in point: this one has a Soulmates card, which kind of made me wince. But a lot of people are OK with that, and that's fine. After all, we don't know what happens. I'm certainly not going to argue the point. There's just a lot of things I've heard and read over the years that I don't believe.

It's an interesting concept, and he was brave make this attempt to sort it out, I'll give him that. I think the deck is timely, too. The 'rona has virtually all of us thinking about death and what we experience when it happens.

So I'll most likely give this a pass. But it does look beautifully done.

Lol yes. I never saw a new deck at this price, and not all the OOP decks can be sold for about $300.

Nevertheless I remember about a deck (Marseille-type), actually beautiful, but the artist was asking a big price for it (I think the price was given in private only, it's to say...). Here it's the morning (time difference), so maybe I'll remember this later; AH that is, my brain is working finally (I need 2 coffee the morning, one is never enought!): the Tarot Tournant! I don't know what happened to this one, I don't hear much about it.

For the Cosma Visions Deck -looking at the cards- it seems a deck for pathworking readings; it's not really what I'm looking for with a deck, but it's fine of course. Also and considering the art, it could be a good prop for visions (I guess), so for psychics (I'm not).

The back is really nice too, and brings an atmosphere! Near a crystal ball it could be fabulous!

About $70 000 more in 1 week and 15 days ahead! Hmm, hmm, he must be happy with a H! 😃

Is the deck 970% funded at this point or I made a mistake?

Posted (edited)

Since the campaign is close to its end I took a glance at this one to see how far it’s gone; the project is 1 545 % funded with currently about $540 980.

Actually I’m wondering if it’s a record on Kickstarter or no?

I didn’t back it here though (I rarely back finally, just sometimes).

I'm a backer, and so delighted that it is successful (was it ever in doubt?) And yes, he has said there are five suits.

Much as I love the beautiful Prisma Visions, I don't use it for tarot readings, more meditation, contemplation and pathworking and and so I will read the accompanying books very carefully to see how they are intended to work together.
I am working from home, much reduced hours, due to the plague and in the usual way of things, I wouldn't have the time or the head space to dive into it the way I need to. Every cloud, eh?

I will even bite the bullet with the exorbitant fees charged by Her Majesty's Customs and Excise.🙂
