Hello everyone! What are all your takes on major arcana in readings? To me it’s a important event or subject you need to focus on. Like you’re getting guided help from spirit guides. Lately I’ve been getting a lot of major arcana in my readings and I’m curious on what others think about it!

The way I read, Majors are more---well----"major" signposts along our way. The Minors are more everyday issues.

Here's an example. Let's say I'm reading for someone about a romantic topic and, among the Minors the 2 of Cups shows up. This might or might not  mean they've met someone and sparks flew but it's nothing really monumental in the scope of their life because it may or may not go further.  Also, though, let's say the Lovers appears in the spread.  In that case, I'd definitely read the 2 of Cups as indicating a romantic pairing that could be very significant in the long run for the sitter. This would mean there are some important life lessons coming from the relationship.

If this were a career reading where the question was how the sitter would make an impression on the potential boss, then if the 2 of Cups showed up I'd say they'd be making a good impression and that they had a decent chance of being hired. If the Lovers showed up as well, then I'd read it to mean that they'd make a very striking impression on the boss where they applied and that, while it might not mean they'd get the job, there was a much more momentous meaning to that encounter and major life lessons to be learned from the application process.

The universe is shouting at you.  To me the majors are important messages from the cosmos for you, the minors deal more with the everyday affairs of people.

Generally, I agree that the Majors carry more weight than the Minors do since the Majors deal with "the big stuff" and the Minors are more about the details or day-to-day happenings. But on a given day and in a given situation, the 10 Swords can be felt much more deeply than the Tower would.

You also have to define what "a lot" is. There are two classifications (Majors and Minors) but five suits (Majors, Wands, Cups, Swords and Pentacles) in tarot. If you did a 10 card Celtic Cross and two Majors showed up, that wouldn't be "a lot" but the average number of cards one would expect to see from a well-shuffled deck. Personally, I wouldn't even say that three Majors in a Celtic Cross was a lot.  If you do a three-card reading and two of the cards are Majors, then that would be a lot. Only you can say if you're getting Majors more than ~20% of the time in your readings or if you're just noticing the Majors more. If you're not already, I'd suggest keeping track of your readings. That way you'll know for certain if you're getting a larger than expected percentage of Majors in your readings.

I did a 6-card relationship spread recently and 4 of the 6 cards were Majors.  I had read that Major have more of an urgent message/meaning, but seeing as I am still learning, I wasn't quite sure how to determine the weight of their messages. Separately or or as a whole.

A lot depends on what kind of reading I'm doing, with what tarot deck, the topic and the spread.

I get very esoteric these days with so much stuff.   BUT?  The quick and easy answer for me is  "The Majors are the really important, underlying content vs. the Pips (more surface stuff) or the Court (the people or personality archetypes involved)...  the stuff to dig in deeper when I start talking or writing ."
