noiremisfortune Posted October 13, 2019 Posted October 13, 2019 So I recently bought a new deck that I absolutely adore (the Ethereal Visions Illuminated Tarot) and have done a few readings with it so far. But what I really want to know is what else I can do with it to get to know it better besides reading the LWB cover to cover and feeling the energy of it as I look over and bond with the deck and it's gorgeous imagery.
jasper Posted October 13, 2019 Posted October 13, 2019 (edited) Hi! You can clean your deck and also do a spread letting the deck introduce itself. Its a great way to get to know it since it is new.You can look at every card for a few minutes and write down what you get from each of them, without using the classic interpretations.Hope this helped Edited October 13, 2019 by jasper Spelling
odd_soul Posted October 14, 2019 Posted October 14, 2019 When I get a new deck, I like to shuffle it and then re-order it a few times, looking at the cards while doing so. It helps me get a feel for the deck's imagery. Another way is to go through all the cards and make piles: one pile for cards you're loving, one pile for cards you're disliking, and one pile for cards you're feeling neutral about. Then, go through the pile of the cards you're loving and pick the one you feel most connected with, and go through the dislike-pile and pick the card you feel most negatively towards. Read the card you love with one of its negative readings, and read the card you dislike with one of its positive meanings and see how those apply to your life right now. I also like to keep new decks on my nightstand while I sleep.
Eric13 Posted October 14, 2019 Posted October 14, 2019 Before I buy a deck, the second I see it, I just have a feeling this is a powerful deck. That's the best I know how to explain that part. Then I meditate with it. I then do the same exact above interview with it. Sometimes it comes out powerful, sometimes not. If it doesn't, I put it away. I have one deck for readings, one for practice. ut I will use a new deck for practice also, or use them for new spreads I am also interviewing, or trying out for their power. The funny thing is, I keep going back to the same two decks for reading and practicing. So I rarely buy new decks now.
