EmpyreanKnight Posted October 6, 2017 Posted October 6, 2017 How do you relate to your birth card? Does it personally resonate with you, or do you find it a bit meh? What do you think it says about you, and do you think it has any bearing in your life path? If you have never calculated your birth card before, here is a good site which would do it for you: http://www.corax.com/tarot/index.html?yourcard Btw, the site also comes highly recommended if you wish to begin your Thoth Tarot studies.
EmpyreanKnight Posted October 6, 2017 Author Posted October 6, 2017 On my part, I've always felt drawn to the Emperor. To me, he represents something to aspire to, a sort of role model for what I can potentially be in the future. Of course I don't have his qualities as of the moment, but I know that if I really strive hard and persevere, try to make good decisions and connections and build up my character, he is someone I can eventually be. Not in a really grand sense like a politician on the national stage or what, tho I do have ambitions. But really, just to possess the qualities he embodies like authority, leadership, stability, a sense of structure, and yes wisdom too, all those would be enough for me. I also love my dad, and I want him to be really, truly proud of me one day. So yeah.
Lantana Posted October 7, 2017 Posted October 7, 2017 My birth card is Strength, a card I was really connected to when I first started tarot. The ideas around that card of surviving really spoke to me then, but it's kind of fallen away for me lately. Maybe I need to reconnect. (Also I know that means that technically my birth card could be Justice in certain decks but shhhh)
phthalogreen Posted October 8, 2017 Posted October 8, 2017 My birth card is the Hermit, which I've always identified with. I am quite introverted by nature, and I have a strong need not just for plenty of time alone, but for knowing things and understanding the world. I think the Hermit also implies a sense of security coming from a deep self awareness and inner knowing, which is something I lack. I’m a pretty anxious person, and I find it hard to trust or even fully comprehend my feelings and instincts. So my birth card is also a nice reminder to aspire to truly understand and find security in the guidance that comes from within myself.
EmpyreanKnight Posted October 8, 2017 Author Posted October 8, 2017 (Also I know that means that technically my birth card could be Justice in certain decks but shhhh) Lol I was rather curious about that. I mean, with all the ruckus about the Strength/Justice switch, I guess their birth card would just depend on the system they prefer.

I actually really like Adjustment in the Thoth (I like a lot of cards in the Thoth) but I'm not exactly fond of the RWS version, even if it is my (extremely fitting) year card this year.
chongjasmine Posted October 9, 2017 Posted October 9, 2017 My birth card is the emperor. To me, he represents authority and power, and that is something I want dearly in my life. He also represents God the Father for me, a father figure I look up to. Yet, I wish my birth card is the high priestess.
Northstar Posted October 31, 2017 Posted October 31, 2017 How do you relate to your birth card? Does it personally resonate with you, or do you find it a bit meh? What do you think it says about you, and do you think it has any bearing in your life path? My birth card is the Hierophant which I do not initially resonate with, but I can see elements of me in this card and the fact that I don't resonate with it now tells me I need to study it further and broaden my understanding of it (......yikes, "study it", maybe it should resonate more than it does).....Northstar
Page of Ghosts Posted November 1, 2017 Posted November 1, 2017 I had started to type up a thing here, then somehow clicked away from the page! It was a bit discouraging, but here's a new attempt: In the #22faves thread for the Hierophant I mentioned that he's my birthcard and we haven't always gotten along. It's something I'm working on so I'd like to expand on my thoughts here a bit and how he relates to me. I don't immedietly respond to the usual pope but through working with other depictions I've realised we do have a few things in common still. For example I've always wanted some sort of spiritual connection in my life and I'm more of a studious than naturally intuitive person - I'm glad that's something I can work on through excercises since it's ability I'd like ;D I grew up equally spending time with my grandparents as with parents, so I guess the tradition and heritage aspect can resonnate there. On the flipside I'm prone to black and white thinking and can be a bit judgmental, but it's something I'm working on :-[ I still need to spend more time with the Hierophant but I feel that in time we can forge a better bond.
Nivian Posted November 23, 2017 Posted November 23, 2017 My birth card was the Emperor. I've never resonated with this energy. I haven't much willpower, structure or interested in law and order. I'm non-political, an anarchist. I do need more structure in my life at the present. This must be based on numerology as my number is actually master number 22 which is different from a 4.
katrinka Posted November 23, 2017 Posted November 23, 2017 The Empress. I don't think I'm super emotional or "absolutely unintellectual". :-\ It's a nice card, though.
Star83 Posted November 24, 2017 Posted November 24, 2017 Oh yes. I have The Lovers card. My entire life is to do with lessons regarding love and relationships combined with the pains and the joys.

What's a year card? Is that just when you pull out a card for the year or is there a site that tells you what your card will be based on birth date?
EmpyreanKnight Posted November 24, 2017 Author Posted November 24, 2017 A way to calculate your Tarot Year Card is shown HERE.
Flaxen Posted November 24, 2017 Posted November 24, 2017 My birth card is The Empress. When I was younger I was resolutely not maternal at all - valued my independence and marriage and motherhood seemed liked a tie. Actually becoming a mother flipped it for me - I loved looking after a baby and toddler and also felt the most body positive in those months after birth. According to current beauty standards, I looked terrible but I felt absolutely strong and in awe of my body for creating this tiny new life. The idea of creativity and 'birthing' something new resonates with me very strongly - I've always had a strong desire to create. It's not the card I would have chosen for myself though.

If you have never calculated your birth card before, here is a good site which would do it for you: http://www.corax.com/tarot/index.html?yourcard I've always been under the assumption my birth cards are The Fool, The Wheel and The Star because I'm Aquarius. That site said it was the Wheel but it didn't mention the other 2 cards. The Wheel is not enough to go on for myself, I need all 3! ;D

The way I learned it 22 is The Fool ;D
Esk Posted November 25, 2017 Posted November 25, 2017 My birth card is the Hermit. First I was disapointed because I suffered a lot from loneliness and thought "well, that's a boring card". But now that my life is much better I really like it and understand this is the perfect card for me. I love having time alone for myself, being retreated from the world, it's important for my well being. And things like soul searching and introspection are part of who I am. My birth card was the Emperor. I've never resonated with this energy. I haven't much willpower, structure or interested in law and order. I'm non-political, an anarchist. Maybe you recognise yourself better in this card.
Nivian Posted November 25, 2017 Posted November 25, 2017 Page of Ghosts "How did you get to the 4? By adding 2+2 together from 22? The way I learned it 22 is The Fool" Actually The Fool makes perfect sense; organized chaos :D

If you have never calculated your birth card before, here is a good site which would do it for you: http://www.corax.com/tarot/index.html?yourcard Btw, the site also comes highly recommended if you wish to begin your Thoth Tarot studies. It gave me The Hierophant; The Hierophant is a symbol for a world of belief and confession, may it be a church, a sect or an occult society. He's the pope, the druid or the High Priest in a system of creeds and dogmas. He represents the religious and intellectual tradition of a person, and may be the one the person is born to it or possibly the one who has chosen it by himself. In the positive aspect, the Hierophant represents the search for knowledge and illumination, the desire to study creed and dogma instead of simply accepting them, to research and achieve further development. It also stands for the deep fulfillment someone can find when really trusting their own beliefs. Interesting. I generally don't identify as the religious aspect of this ... in fact I rather dislike the rote dogma of the church. But when they included "occult" and other aspects of non-traditional belief systems it might fit better. I certainly do not like someone else telling me what to believe and do not tell others what to believe, so the searching for myself part does fit.
EmpyreanKnight Posted November 25, 2017 Author Posted November 25, 2017 The Empress. I don't think I'm super emotional or "absolutely unintellectual". :-\ It's a nice card, though. I think you have a warm, marternal, nurturing earth-mother side you haven't yet shown us, katrunka. ;D

That site said it was the Wheel but it didn't mention the other 2 cards. The Wheel is not enough to go on for myself, I need all 3! ;D Oh yes, the Star would be your astrological Tarot card as per the Golden Dawn system. :) Mine is the Hermit since I'm a Virgo, but other Tarot systems state that my card is the Wheel of Fortune (Picard) or even the Empress. The latter might seem strange since Virgo (Maiden) and The Empress (Mother) represent two very different aspects of the Triple Goddess, but since archaic Greeks associate Virgo with the bounteous Demeter (since in most iconologies Virgo does hold shafts of wheat), it does not seem so far-fetched after all. So yeah attributions can sometimes be one confusing business. But I guess that one just has to be consistent with the system one uses. The Star and the Wheel of Fortune might be your birth cards, while your other calculations may have yielded you The Fool. You might have to choose between the last two tho.

pelican_pilot Posted November 29, 2017 Posted November 29, 2017 The Hierophant! I'm totally new to tarot, by the way. Haven't even used a deck. So, what do you guys think? ;D
timreheht Posted November 29, 2017 Posted November 29, 2017 Pelican_Pilot, the Heirophant is a very spiritual person in my understanding. Some facets relate to orderliness and being a stickler for rules, expectations and structure, and some other facets to my knowledge relate to being a ritualistic person with a strong moral compass and firm grounding in themselves. Usually a respected person who pulls weight and is listened to in their life. Thats my novice understanding anyway :) My numerological birth and shadow cards are the lovers and the devil, respectively. The numerological cards were the ones I first learned of and it wasn't until I joined this forum that I learned of the Golden Dawn personality cards, which seem to be much more broadly recognized. Since it hasnt been referenced here, and in case anyone is interested to know, I used a numerological birth and shadow card calculator that referenced the birth card as being the outward, more easily "palatable" facets of your identity, while the shadow card referenced the parts of yourself you might tend to keep hidden. I've read that it is a life quest for us to draw the shadow element out into the daylight where it can be embraced, as leaving it hidden away as something we are ashamed of can cause it to become malignant. I like this logic and there are definitely ways in which I relate to it in relation to my cards, although understanding the full scope of how to embrace my shadow devil and draw it out into full exposure is still a little beyond me. My recently discovered Golden Dawn cards are Judgement for the fire element, Wheel of Fortune for the planet Jupiter, and Temperance for the sun sign Sagittarius. I have a positive relationship with and appreciation of the Wheel of Fortune, and particularly with Temperance, but I am still developing a well rounded understanding of Judgement. Also I talk a lot. :-[
