xTheHermitx Posted November 6, 2019 Posted November 6, 2019 Hello all!! Noob to the forum/site, but have been studying tarot, as well as other magickal/occult/ paranormal topics for the past 30 years. First got into it as when mom would take me to her sessions with friends in the 70's where they would do yoga, astral projection, and other meditative activities. I remember at that early age - 4-5 years old, of having a connection with an entity in the house they used to meet in. First got into rune study in the early 80's as a combined result of being exposed to the Tolkien books, learning about my ancestry (Scandinavian/German/Swiss), heavy metal music and dungeons and dragons. Also developed a curiosity about tarot, Kabbalah, Hermeticsm, etc in this journey. Got my first deck...the Rider-Waite (of course, but why not start with the classic?) in the late 80's, snd sort of just dove in.... the Rider-Waite deck is by far my most favorite. It's imagery and significance still gives me chills when I am working with it. I think I have done the Fools Journey millions of times, and I always fins some new secret within the symbolism of the cards I also own the Tarot of the Witches, and love the imagery in that. Have the Tarot of the Vikings; the Enochian Tarot - which is still waaaayyyy over my head yet....but it forced me to try to understand Enochian more, which is a seperate journey of it's own. Also have Crowley's Thoth deck, but have not delved into it yet....more of a historical addition to my collection just recently picked up the (newly released) Hermetic tarot, and that is going to ne my winter project....have always wanted this one!!! have always studied solo as most people I know are scared of it, or think it is "lame". About 15 years ago, my aunt started joining me in rune study, and now I have been getting her into tarot as well. I rarely use tarot as a divinatory tool...it is more used as a focus for study of higher interests for me, and as a tool/aide in understanding the crazy mystical secrets of life and the search for Ain Soph. I hope to gain more knowledge on this "religious" journey of mine from people on this site....I am always excited to learn, and hope that the crossing of paths will add to my "toolbox"
Raggydoll Posted November 6, 2019 Posted November 6, 2019 Welcome! What we exciting journey it’s been for you so far! Im glad you decided to join us 😀

LoveLightPeace Posted November 6, 2019 Posted November 6, 2019 Hi and welcome to TT&M @xTheHermitx! Your studies over the past few decades sound wonderful! It's cool that you have studied runes with your Aunt, and that you're also getting her into tarot. 🙂
xTheHermitx Posted November 6, 2019 Author Posted November 6, 2019 funny that I went for years thinking that all of my relatives thought I was a devil worshiper b/c for the most part, they are pretty traditional Christians, and are also pretty conservative. If you aren't into sports, economics and mainstream gossip etc, you are ":Weird". My Aunt surprised me 15 years ago by asking about my Mjollnir necklace at a family gathering one time. It just took off from there. I found out that she had been studying Chakra's and reading tea leaves for a long time, so we have been helping each other out. We have created this little "Esoteric World" running along-side the rest of the family.

Now you have a great big esoteric world to run through here!

Funny that my mom is the one who started me - indirectly - on this journey, but now sometimes still calls it "hocus pocus", and she used to be into it. And she is not negative about it, I just think she is still sort of "scared" of some of it...as I was until I took the plunge

When I was a kid, there used to be an owl that was always outside of my grandparents breakfast nook window in the tree. Just a normal little barn owl, but my grandparents always said he was only there when I was there...they might have just been being "Creative" for me, but that is where the attachment started. In some way's they are like The Hermit's of birds...quiet, aloof, always watching, independent....
