virgo_girl Posted November 8, 2019 Posted November 8, 2019 (edited) Hi everyone! I'm very happy to be here and excited to be in such a supportive space. I've lurked around for awhile but never really felt comfortable contributing or asking my questions until now. I've been practicing hoodoo for awhile but just recently began using tarot after I was gifted a deck. I do have a few questions. I've currently be using my cards to inquire about how my spellwork has been going (i.e is it working as intended, what am I overlooking or should be considering.,etc). What I'm wondering is 1) is it ever okay to ask yes/no questions if you're going to follow up with a more open question? 2) Are the answers finite? If I ask about if my work is going as intended and the cards indicate no does that mean I should stop altogether? Or could it be different the next day? 3) I was told that when asking yes or no that reverse means no while upright means yes is that true? Or should the overall meaning of the card be looked to for interpretation? I'm sorry I know these are probably incredibly basic questions but this is all very new to me and I'm incredibly excited to learn and to get the basics down as I start on this journey. Any help would be appreciated! Also; I'm sorry fi this isn't the right page for this it just seemed like it fit best here haha Edited November 8, 2019 by virgo_girl
LoveLightPeace Posted November 9, 2019 Posted November 9, 2019 Hi and welcome to TT&M @virgo_girl! I personally don't read yes / no questions when working with tarot. Other readers do so hopefully one of them will chime in and help to answer some of your questions.
joy Posted November 10, 2019 Posted November 10, 2019 Hello @virgo_girl welcome to the TT&M Family Like LoveLightPeace I never use yes/no questions but rather use more open questions. It is like in real life discussions, a yes/no question just closes the discussion, there is no more to add in my opinion. Life is constantly changing, it is flowing and depending on how we and other people react to a situation, the outcome can be different and/or change. So in answer to your question 2, I believe it could be different. Tarot can be used to help you look at a situation from a different angle and therefore sort of change the outcome. I think your question 3 can not be answered easily. As far as I know it all depends on how you decide to use the cards that represent yes and no.
