haveabiscuit Posted November 21, 2019 Posted November 21, 2019 Hullo All! I had this happen for the first time today and I wondered if it had any significance. I will give you some context to the situation and the spread I have done first... So I was doing a yes no spread, it was a 3 card pull, with the middle card giving an y/n answer based on being upright (yes) or reversed (no). Context: I am quite unhappy in my workplace, though had chosen not to leave but instead drop my pay level and responsibility so that I could begin my own business on the side of my stable job. Question I asked my deck: Will I be leaving my job in the new year? Card 1: ten of cups reversed Card 2: 8 of cups (giving me a yes answer to my question) Card 3: high priestess reversed In addition, I always pull a 'ponder this' card at the end of each reading, just as an added consider this when moving forward kind of thing... Card 4: 9 of cups I can definitely say that I shuffled my deck well before completing the spread and it has recently been cleansed and cleared of energy, I also pulled the first 3 cards from the top of the deck and the 4th card from the bottom. So just wondering if there is any significance to pulling the; 8, 9 & 10 of cups in a 4 card spread. Also possibly notable is that the high priestess is my birth card (along with judgement). **please also know that I understand my readings do not predict the future, but I use this as a tool when I am struggling to make a definite answer.
Rodney Posted November 22, 2019 Posted November 22, 2019 If the cards had appeared as 8-9-10, that would represent progression to a level of completion to me. Because they appeared as 10-8-9, that says to me that from a level of completion, you're going to take two steps backward before you take one step forward. For example, you might leave your current job for one that pays less until you van move up to a higher position.
DanielJUK Posted November 22, 2019 Posted November 22, 2019 (edited) I would have ignored the importance of the numbers in this reading if I was reading for myself or for someone and got this. I do look at numerology (like if you had 4 5's or something in the reading), multiple same numbers and number progressions interest me. The HP would be a number 2 as well if you wanted to give it a numerology value. The numbers don't have a progression pattern for me but they are all at the end of the Cups suit, it has a "nearly there" type vibe. Some people add cards together to get a new card representing the reading. This would be 10 + 8 + 2+ 9 = 29 and 2 + 9 = 11 so the new card representing this reading would be either Strength or Justice depending on the deck (11 is Justice in RWS). There are different techniques for this but that is just one to show as an example. However I think the key important pattern in the reading is the suit, they are all Cups and minors, apart from the HP! This is a spread very much about emotions and feelings, with the reversals you will be leaving your job in the new year because of your emotional unhappiness and the HP reversed says listen to your intuition, if you hate it there and it makes you miserable, leave! I know you posted this reading for the technique rather than interpretation but the important pattern here for me are the predominating Cups 🙂 Edited November 22, 2019 by DanielJUK
Eric13 Posted November 22, 2019 Posted November 22, 2019 I see that it was: 10, 8, HP (2) and 9. Shouldn't the reader/poster be interpreting their own cards first?
Guest Posted November 22, 2019 Posted November 22, 2019 When reading I do note numbers. Do we increase, and if so, how fast, e.g. Ace, Two, 10 is a rapid increase, but Ace, Four, Seven is steady. We can decrease the same. Also, sometimes, we go forwards then back and forwards again - perhaps we forgot something? Numbers are increments and can indicate pace. In addition, next to a trump, we can look at volume or quantification. The devil’s poison is stronger with the Nine of Cups than the Two of Cups. I also note multiples. Two kings, three sevens, et cetera.
