CambridgeTarot Posted November 23, 2019 Posted November 23, 2019 (edited) I don't currently have access to the reading exchanges here yet, so I offered some free readings for feedback on another website where other readers can post free reading offers or post for interpretation help. (I'm not going to name it here, so it doesn't look like advertisement.) It's a general forum, so there's no specific crowd that visits it, I'd say. I put up my first advertisement and got two "love" reading requests within an hour. I took down the offer, did the readings, wrote them up, got back into the swing of reading for people other than myself, and sent them off to the querents and went to bed. I woke up the next morning to positive feedback from both my querents, sweet! Feeling good about myself because I got those readings done much earlier than I anticipated, I put up another listing for 2-3 more free readings. I quickly got two requests for love readings, and then I took that offer down. Repeated the same process, and the next week I decided to try something I've never done before and put up an offer for a "year to come" preview spread. I had the spread bookmarked from the AT forums, and I wanted to give it a try. My offer sat there for several days until I finally got a reply. To paraphrase the reply, "Since your ad is still up no one wants your reading, can you just do my love reading instead? What does X think about me? Does he like Y more than me?" (I did their reading anyway because I'm a softie.) But it got me thinking, with all the different things and spreads that you can do with tarot, how do you get around to trying them on real people? I know you can always do things like pick a celebrity and read for them, or just do a reading for an imaginary querent or yourself. But I'd like more real-world experience reading for real people, getting their feedback, and refining my readings and presentation style based on the feedback. I guess I'm feeling a little bit pigeonholed into love readings at the moment. Perhaps any of you have some advice? Edited November 23, 2019 by CambridgeTarot
Talal Posted November 23, 2019 Posted November 23, 2019 (edited) You'e got to know the clientele. For example, I give love readings on Tarotsphere, because that clientele is mostly into love. There's a board called Eclectic Tarot. You can't move a love reading there to save your life. That said, I have moved Creative Realignment Spreads and even my Small Business Spread there (but traffic is slow). Both places, I've been trying to move to video Tarot readings. That had success there, because you can embed YouTubes. I've been trying to refine video reading, here. That said, you can't embed a YouTube into a post here. No one touched it and an admin moved it somewhere it will never be noticed again. Problem is that I'm not testing a new spread and not very interested in going textual in my readings. I don't check in here very often as a result. Certainly making the obligatory five posts wasn't worth the time. Different places have different client bases. Shop around and see what you find. CambridgeTarot Posted November 24, 2019 Author Posted November 24, 2019 Hi @Talal, thanks for the advice. Sorry to hear you had a hard time with video readings, as that would make things a bit faster in my mind. I just came across a post here with an embedded Youtube video in the initial post, though it shows fairly small for me: Thread here! Maybe that was removed functionality or a feature that was hidden?

Huh. Even now, there isn't anything in the dashboard. How curious. Perhaps the author managed to paste in code of his or her own? I wonder. Thanks for pointing it out. This is a fairly busy site. It may yet be a viable resource.
